Jonas Greger Walnum
Jonas Greger Walnum (20 August 1771 – 10 March 1838) was a Norwegian property owner and politician. Walnum was born at Steigen in Nordland, Norway. He was the son of Ole Henriksen Walnum (1740-1773) and Else Marie Greger (1746-1812). He inherited property known as Walnumgodset from his father. He resided in the town Sandnessjøen on the island of Alsta where he was an innkeeper and trader. He married Else Maria Meyer Hersleb (1771-1838), widow of Tøger Pedersen Bech, who was the oldest sister of theologian Svend Borchmann Hersleb. In 1801, Walnum acquired the estate of his father-in-law, Jørgen Sverdrup Hersleb, and settled as proprietary of Nord-Herøy, the largest island in Herøy. He and his wife were the parents of fifteen children. including two sons who became priests with the Church of Norway. Debora Greger
Debora Greger (born 1949) is an American poet as well as a visual artist. She was raised in Richland, Washington. She attended the University of Washington and then the Iowa Writers' Workshop. She then went on to hold fellowships at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown and at Harvard University's Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study. She was professor of English and creative writing at the University of Florida until retiring.> She now works as Poet in Residence at the Harn Museum of Art. Her poetry has been included in six volumes of ''The Best American Poetry'' and she has exhibited her artwork at several galleries and museums across the country. She also has a poem on Poetry 180 in number 42. Her work appeared in ''Paris Review'', ''The Nation'', ''Poetry'', and ''The New Criterion''. Luise Greger
Luise Sumpf Greger (27 December 1862 – 25 January 1944) was a German composer and pianist. Life Greger took lessons at five and at nine she played for the Tsar. She began composing at 11. While still in Berlin in the 1890s, Richard Strauss proclaimed her to be a composer. She continued composing into her seventies and in 1933-34 her musical Christmas fairytale "Goose Girl" was performed 13 times to much acclaim. At the old age she was a resident of a nursing home. On December 2, 1943, she was taken to the Merxhausen State Institution because of “gradually increasing senile mental disorder”. There she died on January 25, 1944 from hunger as a victim of National Socialist euthanasia. Decades later her family found some of her songs in a trunk and she has since been honored in many forums in Germany and the US. Max Greger (April 2, 1926, Munich – August 15, 2015, Munich) was a German jazz musician, saxophonist, big band bandleader and conductor. He recorded over 150 records in jazz and pop music. In 1948 he founded his first sextet with acclaimed musicians, including Hugo Strasser. In 1959 he was the first western orchestra to tour the Soviet Union. In 1963 he put together a top orchestra for ZDF, which for years supported all major TV shows. His son, Max Greger Jr. and grandson, Max Greger Jr.Jr. are accomplished musicians as well. Michael Herschel Greger (born 25 October 1972) is an American physician, author, and professional speaker on public health issues, best known for his advocacy of a whole-food, plant-based diet, and his opposition to animal-derived food products. Career Greger went to college at Cornell University School of Agriculture, where as a junior he wrote informally about the dangers of bovine spongiform encephalopathy, commonly known as mad cow disease, on a website he published in 1994. In the same year, he was hired to work on mad cow issues for Farm Sanctuary, near Cornell, and became a vegan after touring a stockyard as part of his work with Farm Sanctuary.
