An athletic director (commonly "athletics director" or "AD") is an administrator at many American clubs or institutions, such as colleges and universities, as well as in larger high schools and middle schools, who oversees the work of coaches and related staff involved in athletic programs. Jacksonville State Gamecocks
The Jacksonville State Gamecocks are the intercollegiate athletic teams of Jacksonville State University (JSU) located in Jacksonville, Alabama, United States. The Gamecocks athletic program is a member of the ASUN Conference, which it rejoined on July 1, 2021 after an 18-year absence spent in the Ohio Valley Conference, and competes at the NCAA Division I level including the Football Championship Subdivision. In football, JSU is currently a de facto associate member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), competing in a formal partnership between the ASUN and WAC that will operate until they formally join a FBS football league, Conference USA, in all sports for the 2023-24 academic year. Conference USA (C-USA or CUSA) is an intercollegiate athletic conference whose current member institutions are located within the Southern United States. The conference participates in the NCAA's Division I in all sports. C-USA's offices are located in Dallas, Texas. History C-USA was founded in 1995 by the merger of the Metro Conference and Great Midwest Conference, two Division I conferences that did not sponsor football. However, the merger did not include either Great Midwest member Dayton or Metro members VCU and Virginia Tech. The University of North Alabama (UNA) is a public university in Florence, Alabama. It is the state's oldest public university. Jacksonville State University (JSU) is a public university in Jacksonville, Alabama. Founded in 1883, Jacksonville State offers programs of study in six academic schools leading to bachelor's degree, bachelor's, master's degree, master's, education specialist, and doctorate degrees in addition to certificate programs and continuing education opportunities. In the Fall semester of 2011, JSU began offering the school's first doctoral degree, Doctor of Science in Emergency Management. ''The Anniston Star'' is the daily newspaper serving Anniston, Alabama, and the surrounding six-county region. Average Sunday circulation in September 2004 was 26,747. Warren Koegel
Warren Koegel (born November 1, 1949) is a former American football player and college athletics administrator. Koegel attended Pennsylvania State University, where he played for coach Joe Paterno on the Penn State Nittany Lions football team. He went on to play parts of three seasons in the NFL between 1971 and 1974, playing for the Oakland Raiders, St. Louis Cardinals, and New York Jets.
