Gregory Stanley Kihn (born July 10, 1949) is an American rock musician, radio personality, and novelist. He founded and led The Greg Kihn Band, which scored hit songs in the 1980s, and has written several horror novels. History Kihn was born in Baltimore, Maryland, United States, to parents Stanley J. Kihn, a city Health Department inspector who fought in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II, and Jane (Gregorek) Kihn. Bass Guitar
The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. It is a plucked string instrument similar in appearance and construction to an electric or an acoustic guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and typically four to six strings or courses. Since the mid-1950s, the bass guitar has largely replaced the double bass in popular music. The four-string bass is usually tuned the same as the double bass, which corresponds to pitches one octave lower than the four lowest-pitched strings of a guitar (typically E, A, D, and G). Steve Wright (bassist)
Steve Wright (1950 – January 16, 2017) was an American bass guitarist best known for his work with The Greg Kihn Band. A native of El Cerrito, California, Wright had played in a band called Traumatic Experience with El Cerrito natives John Cuniberti and Jimmy Thorsen. After changing their name to Hades Blues Works (later, Hades), they expanded into a quartet with Craig Ferreira in 1970 (he left in 1971). He later joined the Greg Kihn Band with fellow El Cerrito native Larry Lynch. Wright died of a heart attack at UC Davis Hospital in Sacramento, California, in the early hours of January 16, 2017. Larry Lynch (born c. 1950) is a former drummer for the Greg Kihn Band. They had a #2 US hit with "Jeopardy" in 1983 and a #15 hit with "The Breakup Song (They Don't Write 'Em)". After leaving the Greg Kihn band, "Larry Lynch and MOB (Members Of the Band)", gigged throughout the East San Francisco Bay area, teaming up with Robbie Dunbar, the guitarist from San Francisco's "Earthquake". Billy Young (singer)
William D. Young (born May 25, 1941) is an American singer-songwriter of the 1960s. He was discovered, produced, and promoted by Otis Redding. He is best known for his one major success, "The Sloopy", although he actively recorded music from 1963 to 1984 mostly in the genres of soul music and rhythm and blues. Personal life Young was born in Dangerfield, Texas. He later moved to the west coast of the United States. His early recordings were possibly for the Crest recording label as a member of the Classics, but the first 45 recordings under his own name was for Original Sound in 1963. Folk Rock
Folk rock is a hybrid music genre that combines the elements of folk and rock music, which arose in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom in the mid-1960s. In the U.S., folk rock emerged from the folk music revival.
