Green Fall River
The Green Fall River is a river in the U.S. states of Connecticut and Rhode Island. It flows approximately 13 km (8 mi). Course The river rises from a swamp south of Rockville Road ( CT 138) in Voluntown. The river then flows due south to Green Fall Pond (), then continues south through North Stonington and into Hopkinton, Rhode Island where the river converges with Parmenter Brook to form the Ashaway River. Route 216 (Connecticut)
Route 216 is a state highway in southeastern Connecticut, running entirely within the town of North Stonington. It connects Route 49 to the Rhode Island state line and serves the village of Clarks Falls. Route description Route 216 begins at an intersection with Route 49 in the eastern part of the town of North Stonington. It heads east to the village of Clarks Falls, then continues southeast past the village intersecting I-95 (at exit 93) just shy of the Rhode Island state line. It continues beyond the state line as RI Route 216. Route 216 is known as Clarks Falls Road for its entire length. History Route 216 was established between 1932 and 1934 as a continuation of the already existing Rhode Island Route 216. The original route followed Denison Hill Road through the Laurel Hill community of North Stonington. It was realigned in 1962 resulting in a decrease of in its official length. Ashaway River
The Ashaway River is a river in the U.S. states of Rhode Island and Connecticut. It flows approximately 4 km (2 mi). There are three dams along the river's length. Course The river is formed in Hopkinton by the confluence of Parmenter Brook and the Green Fall River, about 500 feet north of Interstate 95, and just a few feet east of the Connecticut state line. From there, it flows south-southwest, briefly entering North Stonington, Connecticut for about 500 feet, before turning southeast and crossing back into Rhode Island and continuing through Hopkinton to its mouth at the Pawcatuck River. Hopkinton, Rhode Island
Hopkinton is a town in Washington County, Rhode Island. The population was 8,398 at the 2020 census. History Hopkinton is named after Stephen Hopkins, a signer of the Declaration of Independence who was governor of the Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations when the town was partitioned from Westerly and incorporated in 1757. Hopkinton once featured a number of industrial villages, such as Locustville, Moscow, Centerville, and Wood River Iron Works, each being named after the mill which they surrounded.
