On Green Dolphin Street (Bill Evans Album)
''On Green Dolphin Street'' is a record album credited to jazz musician Bill Evans. It was released in 1977 through the Victor Music Industries Inc. Japanese label as an imprint for Riverside. The songs were recorded in 1959. The album title comes from the song On Green Dolphin Street, a jazz standard that Evans recorded on the album. The CD edition catalogued as MCD-9235-2 does not include "Loose Bloose". However, it does contain a rare first take of " All of You" from the Village Vanguard engagement by the 1961 Evans Trio with bassist Scott LaFaro and drummer Paul Motian. On Green Dolphin Street (Archie Shepp Album)
''On Green Dolphin Street'' is an album by saxophonist Archie Shepp recorded in 1977 for the Japanese Denon Records, Denon label.Archie Shepp Catalog

Reception

AllMusic stated: "The fact that Shepp is playing against such a conventional acoustic jazz backdrop gives ''On Green Dolphin Street'' its unique tension. The accompanists are a tamer group, working closer to the framework the songs provide. Still, Joe Chambers (drums), Sam Jones (bass), and Walter Bishop, Jr. (piano) are a sophisticated rhythm section managing to balance this with adept flexibility. Shepp's unique voice breathes new life into these standards, paying them the ultimate compliment; ''On Green Dolphin Street'' argues and convinces that these songs deserve to be sung again".

On Green Dolphin Street (novel)
''On Green Dolphin Street'' is a novel by Sebastian Faulks, published by Hutchinson in 2001. The title comes from a 1947 composition by Bronislau Kaper and Ned Washington—written for the Hollywood film '' Green Dolphin Street''—and later recorded by jazz musicians Miles Davis (1958), and Bill Evans (1959), among others. The film was an adaptation of the best-seller novel ''Green Dolphin Street'' (1944) by Elizabeth Goudge. Literary themes ''On Green Dolphin Street'' narrates the troubles, fears, dilemmas, problems and happiness of its main characters. There is an implicit feeling of nostalgia in the novel, a nostalgia for a time when everything seemed possible and life was full of hope and expectations. This, of course, also denotes the idea of disillusionment, a theme Faulkes also explores in his earlier novel, ''The Long White Winter''. This is encapsulated by Mary and Charlie. Charlie has seemingly lost the will to live, or at least he lacks the enthusiasm that h ...
