Forbidden (band)
Forbidden was an American thrash metal band from the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Formed in 1985 as Forbidden Evil, the group was founded by Jim Pittman and guitarist Robb Flynn. Since their formation, Forbidden have broken up and reformed twice with numerous line-up changes. The most recent line-up of the band was Russ Anderson (vocals), Craig Locicero (guitar), Matt Camacho (bass), Steve Smyth (guitar) and Sasha Horn (drums). After breaking up for the first time in 1997 and briefly returning in 2001, Forbidden reunited once again in 2007 but has been on an indefinite hiatus since 2012. Groove metal is a subgenre of heavy metal music that began in the early 1990s. The genre achieved success in the 1990s and continued having success in the 2000s. GUN Records (''Great Unlimited Noises'') was a record label located in Bochum, Germany, founded in 1992 by Bogdan Kopec ( DRAKKAR Promotion Musikverlag GmbH) and Wolfgang Funk. Different artists on the label have had hit singles as well as albums in Europe. A branch of the label known as Supersonic Records existed until 2005, when GUN's parent company BMG merged with Sony. ''Omega Wave'' is the fifth and final studio album by American thrash metal band Forbidden, released on October 22, 2010. It is the band's first studio recording in 13 years (since 1997's ''Green'') and the first album to feature two new band members, Steve Smyth on guitar and Mark Hernandez on drums. Production The album was produced by guitarist Craig Locicero and former Systematic frontman Tim Narducci. The two had been friends since the age of 15 and together formed the band Spiralarms in 2004. Tim Calvert
Timothy K. Calvert (November 7, 1965 – April 30, 2018) was an American metal guitarist. He was known for his dark, moody style of songwriting created through his frequent usage of dissonant passages and diminished chords. He was associated with the bands Forbidden and Nevermore. Calvert was an accomplished guitar player who played in a neoclassical style, featuring an abundance of arpeggios and sweep-picking. He started guitar lessons with Bob Marshall in Castro Valley and eventually took lessons from Jim Bedford in Hayward, California for about 10 years. He played Jackson Guitars throughout his entire career. Career He began his career in the mid-1980s in a thrash metal band called Militia before joining Forbidden in 1989.
