Greek Hold 'em
Greek hold 'em (originally known as tight hold 'em) is a community card poker game variant of Texas hold 'em which transitioned into Omaha hold 'em. Greek hold 'em combines the rules of Texas hold 'em and current day Omaha hold 'em. In professional poker player Doyle Brunson's book, ''Super/System'', this version of poker was referred to as tight hold 'em. Rules Greek hold 'em follows the same rules as Omaha, except that each player is only dealt two cards, same as in Texas hold 'em. In Greek hold 'em each player must use ''both'' hole cards along with 3 of the total available community cards to make the strongest five card hand, unlike Texas hold 'em where each player may play the best five card poker hand from any combination of the seven cards available to them. Omaha Hold 'em
Omaha hold 'em (also known as Omaha holdem or simply Omaha) is a community card poker game similar to Texas hold 'em, where each player is dealt four cards and must make their best hand using exactly two of them, plus exactly three of the five community cards. Doyle Brunson
Doyle F. Brunson (born August 10, 1933) is a retired American poker player who played professionally for over 50 years. He is a two-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event champion, a Poker Hall of Fame inductee, and the author of several books on poker. Brunson was the first player to win $1 million in poker tournaments. He has won ten WSOP bracelets throughout his career, tied with Johnny Chan and Phil Ivey for second all-time, behind Phil Hellmuth's sixteen bracelets. He is also one of only four players to have won the Main Event at the World Series of Poker multiple times, which he did in 1976 and 1977. Robert Turner (poker Player)
Robert Turner is an American professional poker player based in Downey, California. Turner is known for introducing Omaha hold 'em into poker-playing circles. He introduced the game to Bill Boyd, who offered it as a game at the Golden Nugget Casino (calling it "Nugget Hold'em".) Robert Turner created Live At The Bike and Legends of Poker, for the Bicycle Casino. Turner also created The Grand Slam of Poker at Hustler Casino and The National Championship Of Poker for Hollywood Park Casino. In 1999 Turner created World Team Poker. Bill Boyd (poker Player)
William Walter Boyd (January 27, 1906 – November 21, 1997) was a professional poker player. Boyd was a five-card stud player; he won all four of his World Series of Poker bracelets in five-card stud. Boyd, Doyle Brunson and Loren Klein are the only players in WSOP history to have won bracelets in four consecutive years. Additionally, Boyd is responsible for the spread of Omaha hold 'em. In 1983, Robert "Chip Burner" Turner approached Boyd, who was then the director of operations at the Golden Nugget casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The game, being previously unnamed, was called ''Nugget hold 'em''. Sometime later, it was renamed to its current name of "Omaha". Boyd managed the card room at the Golden Nugget from the day it opened in 1946 until its closing in 1988. As a tribute to his long career, he was dealt the first poker hand ever at the Mirage. Six-plus Hold 'em
Six-plus hold 'em (also known as short-deck hold 'em and Manila) is a community card poker game variant of Texas hold 'em, where the 2 through 5 cards are removed from the deck. Each player is dealt two cards face down and seeks to make the best five card poker hand from any combination of the seven cards (five community cards and their own two hole cards). Rules The rules in terms of betting structures, play of the hand, and showdown are the same as in Texas hold 'em. However before play begins all cards 2 through 5 are removed (16 cards), thus the total number of cards in the deck is 36. Aces are high, but same as in Texas hold 'em, can make both low and high end of straights. For example the lowest straight would be (9x-8x-7x-6x-Ax) and the highest (Ax-Kx-Qx-Jx-10x).
