Greek League Cup
The EPAE Cup, known as the Greek League Cup, a now defunct football competition, took place only once, in the year 1989–90 season. AEK Athens is the only winner of the League Cup, beating Panionios (3–3 and 3–1 on penalties), Aris (5–2), Levadiakos (0–0 and 1–0) and Olympiacos (3–2 in the final at the Athens Olympic Stadium, on 2 June 1990). Road to Final In the 1989-90 EPAE Cup, the participants were the 18 teams of the 1989–90 Alpha Ethniki, while the qualifying matches and the final were single matches, except for the semi-finals, which were double. Iraklis F
Gymnasticos Syllogos Iraklis ( el, Γυμναστικός Σύλλογος Ηρακλής, en, Gymnastics Club Heracles), commonly referred to as Iraklis, is a Greek multi-sports club based in Thessaloniki. The club was founded in 1908 as "Macedonikos Gymnasticos Syllogos" (''Macedonian Gymnastics Club'') and is one of the oldest and most historic sports-clubs in Greece. It is named after Heracles, the mythical Greek demigod. Their colours are blue or cyan and white, inspired by the Greek flag. Iraklis traces its roots back in 1899 when ''Omilos Filomouson'' (meaning ''Friends of Music Club'') was established. The club was established as a cultural union of the Greeks of Thessaloniki (then under Ottoman sovereignty), and in 1902 was founded also a sports department. Stelios Manolas
Stelios Manolas ( el, Στέλιος Μανωλάς, born 13 July 1961) is a Greek former international football player who played as a centre back for AEK Athens and a manager. Arguably the best Greek defender of his era, being one of the few Greek footballers to have played his entire professional career for a single club. In 2021, IFFHS chose him in the best XI of all time of Greek football. Club career Manolas started football from a young age, playing on the streets and vacant lots in and around the Athens suburb of Galatsi, where he lived during his childhood. In his early teens he, alongside his friend Kostas Antoniou, played for the small amateur club, Aetos Galatsi, where he was discovered by scouts and brought to the attention of AEK Athens. Christos Vasilopoulos (footballer)
Christos Vasilopoulos ( el, Χρήστος Βασιλουπουλος; born 12 November 1962) is a former Greek professional footballer who played as a right back. Club career Vasilopoulos started his career at Panachaiki, where he distinguished himself, before he was transferred to AEK Athens in the summer of 1987. He managed to establish himself at the club mainly as a right back, but he was used as a left back, while Dušan Bajević also used him as a sweeper to play one-on-one against the opposition attackers. He was a combative, fast and quite effective defender, who was turned to be a key player for AEK. With the "yellow-blacks", he won 3 championships, a Greek Super Cup in 1989 and the Greek League Cup in 1990, while he was also the captain of the team for the 1992–93 season. Fanis Kofinas
Fanis Kofinas ( el, Φάνης Κοφινάς; born 5 September 1960) is a Greeks, Greek former professional Association football, footballer who played as Goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper. Club career Kofinas started football from the amateur club of his village, AO Likoporia and was subsequently acquired by the club of Pelopas Kiato F.C., Pelopas Kiato in 1980 with whose shirt he competed in the championship of the Super League Greece 2, second division and in the championship of the Football League Greece, third division. In the summer of 1982, he was transferred to AEK Athens F.C., AEK Athens. Marousi
Marousi or Maroussi ( el, Μαρούσι, also Αμαρούσιο ''Amarousio'') is a suburb in the northeastern part of the Athens agglomeration, Greece. Toni Savevski
Toni Savevski ( mk, Тони Савевски; born 14 June 1963) is a Macedonian football player who played as a midfielder. Savevski is widely regarded as one of the best foreign players to have played in the Greek football league. After retiring from as a footballer in 2001 he became manager and managed several clubs in Cyprus, most notably Omonia. Club career Savevski was born in Bitola, SR Macedonia. He started his career in Pelister Bitola and then played for Vardar Skopje, where he won the league in 1987, but due to a point deduction punishment of Partizan was overturned, the title eventually was awarded to the latter. In winter 1988 he signed for AEK Athens at the request of Dušan Bajević. Giorgos Savvidis
Giorgos Savvidis ( gr, Γιώργος Σαββίδης; born February 8, 1961) is a former international Cypriot football attacking midfielder and football manager. During his playing days, he was regarded one of the best players in the country and was voted in the best 11 Cypriot national players of the past century. Club career Savvidis took his first football steps in Olympiakos Nicosia and then had a long career at Omonia. After dominating Cypriot football, AEK Athens signed him in 1987 for 40 million drachmas. There he soon captured the imagination of the fans winning instant recognition. He was appointed captain of the team in 1988 and lifted the 1988–89 league, while also winning another championship in 1991–92. Eastern European Summer Time (EEST) is one of the names of the UTC+03:00 time zone, which is 3 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time. It is used as a summer daylight saving time in some European and Middle Eastern countries, which makes it the same as Arabia Standard Time, East Africa Time, and Moscow Time. Away Goals Rule
The away goals rule is a method of tiebreaker, tiebreaking in association football and other sports when teams play each other twice, once at each team's home ground. Under the away goals rule, if the total goals scored by each team are equal, the team that has scored more goals "Road (sports), away from home" wins. This is sometimes expressed by saying that away goals "count double" in the event of a tie, though in practice the team with more away goals is simply recorded as the victor, rather than having additional or 'double' goals added to their total. The away goals rule is most often invoked in two-legged tie, two-leg fixtures, where the initial result is determined by the aggregate score — i.e. the scores of both games are added together.
