The Great Buddha of Thailand, also known as The Big Buddha, The Big Buddha of Thailand, Phra Buddha Maha Nawamin, and Mahaminh Sakayamunee Visejchaicharn ( th, พระพุทธมหานวมินทรศากยมุนีศรีวิเศษชัยชาญ; ), was in November 2018 the tallest statue in Thailand, the second tallest statue in Southeast Asia, and the ninth-tallest in the world. Located in the Wat Muang temple in Ang Thong Province, this statue stands 92 m (300 ft) high, and is 63 m (210 ft) wide. Construction commenced in 1990, and was completed in 2008. It is painted gold and made of concrete. The Buddha is in the seated posture called Maravijaya Attitude. Wiset Chai Chan District
Wiset Chai Chan (, ) is a district (''amphoe'') in the southwestern part of Ang Thong province, central Thailand. History When King Naresuan the Great defeated the Burmese troops at Don Chedi, he led his troops past Phai Cham Sin. He saw the strategic potential of the area with the Noi River as a natural obstacle for the Burmese troops. Thus he established ''Mueang'' Wiset Chai Chan there. In the Rattanakosin era, the Noi River had become shallow and was no longer navigable for water transportation. The government thus moved the central tambon of the ''mueang'' to Bang Kaeo, on the Chao Phraya River bank and called the new area Ang Thong. At the same time, they downgraded the district to Phai Cham Sin District. King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) ordered the district to assume its historical name, Wiset Chai Chan. Phuket Big Buddha
Phuket Big Buddha, or The Great Buddha of Phuket, is a seated Maravija Buddha statue in Phuket, Thailand. The official name is Phra Phutta Ming Mongkol Eknakiri ( th, พระพุทธมิ่งมงคลเอกนาคคีรี; ), shortened to Ming Mongkol Buddha. Sitting atop Nakkerd Hill (also spelt Nagakerd) near Chalong, construction began in 2004. Expansion of the base was ongoing as of 2015. By 2017, 80 percent of the project had been completed. It is the third-tallest statue in Thailand behind only the Great Buddha of Thailand and Luangpho Yai. The Buddha statue depicts Gautama in a sitting position ( Maravichai: มารวิชัย) and is tall and wide. It is made of concrete and covered with Burmese white marble.
