The British men's national inline hockey team that participates in the IIHF Inline Hockey World Championships is an independent body established to operate for the sole purpose of operating a team at the World Championships and developing talent for future entries. History The national team has won two gold medals in Division I, ranking 9th in the World in 2004, 2006 and narrowly missed out on promotion to the elite division of eight in 2007. 2004 Men's World Inline Hockey Championships
The 2004 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships was the ninth such event hosted by the International Ice Hockey Federation. It took place between July 10 and July 17, 2004. Tournament Format The preliminary round will be played in four groups (A-D) with 4 teams each. The groups A and B form the Top Division, the groups C and D form Division I. The two last-placed teams of the groups A and B and the two first-placed teams of the groups C and D play for fourth place in group A and B to participate in the Top Division playoffs. The losers of those games play as first placed teams in group C and D to participate in the Division I playoffs. Playoffs starting with the quarterfinals and placement games will be played both in the Top Division and in Division I. All games in the preliminary round and in the playoffs will be played with 5-minute sudden-death overtime and a penalty shootout in case of a tie. The 2006 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships is the 11th such event hosted by the International Ice Hockey Federation. It took place between July 10 and July 16, 2006. 2008 Men's World Inline Hockey Championships
The 2008 IIHF Inline Hockey World Championship was the 12th IIHF Inline Hockey World Championship, an international inline hockey tournament run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The World Championship runs alongside the 2008 IIHF Inline Hockey World Championship Division I tournament and took place between 21 and 28 June 2008 in Bratislava, Slovakia. The tournament was won by Sweden men's national inline hockey team, Sweden, earning their second straight World Championship title and fourth overall. Slovakia men's national inline hockey team, Slovakia finished in second place and Germany men's national inline hockey team, Germany in third after defeating the United States men's national inline hockey team, United States in the bronze medal match. Inline Hockey In The United Kingdom
Inline hockey and skater hockey are team sports, similar to ice hockey. In the UK, there are two associations that govern inline hockey. The British Inline Puck Hockey Association (BIPHA) govern the sport with rules using a Puck. The British inline Skater Hockey Association (BiSHA) is different from BIPHA as BiSHA uses a Ball, Inline skates and roller skates and is played to full-contact rules. GBinline, Inline UK and BRHA, are minor association within the country. The BRSF is recognised by UK Sport, Sport England, Sport Northern Ireland, Sport Wales and SportScotland as the National Governing Body of Roller Sports in the UK, its members include BIPHA, BiSHA, NRHA, FARS, UKRDA and Skateboarding. Clubs and teams who wish to be recognised by UK Sport and the four Home Countries must be registered to one of the members of the BRSF.
