Great Britain participated in the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics, the inaugural Youth Olympic Games, held in Singapore. The British squad consisted of 40 athletes competing in 16 sports: aquatics (diving and swimming), archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, canoeing, equestrian, fencing, gymnastics, modern pentathlon, rowing, sailing, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, and triathlon. On 13 July 2010, the British Olympic Association announced their YOG squad with many well known names, including Tom Daley who competed for Great Britain at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China and also won a world championship gold in Rome. Another well known name was Oliver Golding who reached the semi-finals of The Championships, Wimbledon in the boys singles of 2010. Tennis At The 2010 Summer Youth Olympics
Tennis at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics lasted from August 18 until August 25. For the Singles competitions, all matches were determined through a best-of-three tie-break sets. For the Doubles competitions, all matches were determined by two tie-break sets and a match tie-break game (10 points) in place of a third set. There were competitions for boys' singles, boys' doubles, girls' singles and girls' doubles. It took place at the Kallang Tennis Centre. The acceptance lists for the event were released by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) on 29 June. 39 countries are represented in the event that involves both 32 players for the singles and 16 pairs for the doubles. At the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics, 36 athletics events were contested – 18 for boys and 18 for girls – on 17–19 and 21–23 August 2010. The events took place in Bishan Stadium, Singapore. Athletes born between January 1, 1993, and December 31, 1994, were eligible to compete. Continents selected their athletes through Youth Continental Championships (Continental Youth Olympic Trials). While most events mirrored those at the Summer Olympic Games, some events were distinct from the Games' senior counterpart. A 1000 metres race was scheduled in place of the more traditional 800/1,500 metres races. The steeplechase was held over 2000 m, instead of the seniors' 3000 m distance, and the competition featured a medley relay with legs of 100 m, 200 m, 300 m and 400 m (in the Swedish style).
