Great Britain Women's National Rugby Sevens Team
The Great Britain national rugby sevens team is the women's Olympic representative team of Great Britain at the rugby sevens tournament at the Summer Olympic Games. The team played their first competitive match at the 2016 Summer Olympics after England finished in an Olympic qualifying place at the World Rugby Women's Sevens Series. They qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics through England winning the 2019 Rugby Europe Women's Sevens Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Kazan. Great Britain finished in fourth place after losing in the bronze medal match to Fiji. They participated at the 2021 Canada Women's Sevens and won the tournament back to back in Vancouver and Edmonton. Emily Scarratt
Emily Scarratt (born 8 February 1990) is an English rugby union player. She currently plays centre and fullback for Loughborough Lightning and for England. She is also a qualified teacher. Club career Scarratt played for Leicester Forest before moving to Lichfield. In 2018 she joined Loughborough Lightning. International career Scarratt first played for England in 2008, scoring 12 tries in 12 games and earning comparisons to Brian O'Driscoll. In 2009 she helped England to victory in the 2009 Women's Six Nations Championship and was joint top try scorer with teammate Fiona Pocock. As England went on to win the next three Six Nations Championships, Scarratt again achieved top try scorer in 2010 and top point scorer in 2011. World Rugby Women's Sevens Series
The World Rugby Women's Sevens Series, is a series of international rugby sevens tournaments for women's national teams run by World Rugby. The inaugural series was held in 2012–13 as the successor to the IRB Women's Sevens Challenge Cup held the previous season. The competition has been sponsored by banking group HSBC since 2015. The series, the women's counterpart to the World Rugby Sevens Series, provides elite-level women's competition between rugby nations. The Rugby Europe Women's Sevens, previously the FIRA–AER Women's Sevens until 2013, is a series of regional championships for women's international rugby sevens in Europe. The Scotland women's national sevens team is a minor rugby sevens team. They regularly compete at the Europe Women's Sevens. History Scott Wight was appointed as head coach in 2017. The Wales Women's National Sevens Team represents Wales in Rugby sevens. History In 2006 Wales won the European Women Sevens Championship after beating England 10–7 in the final. In 2012 they competed in round 2 of the European Women's Sevens Series which also acted as a qualifier for the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens. The English women's national rugby sevens team has competed in the Hong Kong Women's Sevens tournaments since 1997. England are also one of six teams announced by the International Rugby Board as "core teams" that will compete in all four rounds of the inaugural IRB Women's Sevens World Series in 2012–13. England won the bronze medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
