Grasshopper Club Zurich, commonly referred to as simply GC, GCZ, or Grasshoppers, is a sports club, multisports club based in Zürich, Switzerland and its association football, football division is the most successful club in Switzerland, with a record 27 Swiss Super League, league titles, a record 19 Swiss Cup, cup championships, eight doubles, two Swiss League Cup, league cup wins, and one Swiss Super Cup, Super Cup victory. Grasshopper Club Zurich
Grasshoppers are a group of insects belonging to the suborder Caelifera. They are among what is possibly the most ancient living group of chewing herbivorous insects, dating back to the early Triassic around 250 million years ago. Grasshoppers are typically ground-dwelling insects with powerful hind legs which allow them to escape from threats by leaping vigorously. As hemimetabolous insects, they do not undergo complete metamorphosis; they hatch from an egg into a nymph or "hopper" which undergoes five moults, becoming more similar to the adult insect at each developmental stage. The grasshopper hears through the tympanal organ which can be found in the first segment of the abdomen attached to the thorax; while its sense of vision is in the compound eyes, the change in light intensity is perceived in the simple eyes (ocelli). 1995–96 UEFA Champions League Group Stage
The group stage of the 1995–96 UEFA Champions League began on 13 September 1995 and ended on 6 December 1995. Eight teams qualified automatically for the group stage, while eight more qualified via a preliminary round. 1979–80 UEFA Cup
The 1979–80 UEFA Cup was the ninth season of the UEFA Cup, a football competition organised by UEFA for clubs representing its member associations. The competitions was won by Eintracht Frankfurt, who beat Borussia Mönchengladbach on the away goals rule after a 3–3 aggregate draw in the final. All four semi-finalists came from West Germany, and a fifth was eliminated in the quarter-finals. This is the only time all four semi-finalists in a UEFA club competition came from a single nation. 1984–85 European Cup
The 1984–85 season of the European Cup club football tournament was overshadowed by the Heysel Stadium disaster that happened prior to the final match. That edition was won for the first time by Juventus in a 1–0 win against defending champions Liverpool. At sporting level, with this result they became the first club to have won all three major European trophies (European Cup/UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League, and the Cup Winners' Cup), as well '' a posteriori'' as the one that needed the shortest amount of time to complete this (8 years).
