Grant Turner (radio Host)
Grant Turner (May 17, 1912 - October 19, 1991) was an American disc jockey known as the long time host of the Grand Ole Opry and on WSM AM radio in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1981, Turner was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, the first announcer or disk jockey to achieve that honor. A disc jockey, more commonly abbreviated as DJ, is a person who plays recorded music for an audience. Types of DJs include Radio personality, radio DJs (who host programs on music radio stations), club DJs (who work at a nightclub or music festival), mobile DJs (who are hired to work at public and private events such as weddings, parties, or festivals), and turntablism, turntablists (who use record players, usually turntables, to manipulate sounds on phonograph records). Loretta Lynn (; April 14, 1932 – October 4, 2022) was an American country music singer and songwriter. In a career spanning six decades, Lynn released multiple gold albums. Chart Records was a country music record label of the 1960s, best known for turning Lynn Anderson into a major country star. It was owned by Slim Williamson. The label was founded in 1964. Among the artists who recorded at one time for the label were Kenny Vernon, Johnny Bush, Junior Samples, Del Wood, Maxine Brown, Jim Nesbitt, Connie Eaton, Lynn Anderson, Red Sovine, Billy "Crash" Craddock, LaWanda Lindsey, Anthony Armstrong Jones and Doug Koempel. Many of the labels' vocalists were quite young, teenagers or in their early twenties, quite unusual during the 1960s for a country music label. Chart was distributed by RCA Victor for several years during the 1960s and early 1970s. {{Unreferenced, date=December 2009 Tennessee Records was a mid-20th century United States based record label, headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee. Tennessee mostly released country music, but the label's biggest hit was " Down Yonder", a ragtime piano performance by Del Wood in 1950. Other Tennessee Records performers included Edgar Clayton, Helen Carter, Roy Hall, Snooky Lanson and Mississippi Slim. Tennessee Records (along with the Republic label) was owned by Alan and Reynolds Bubis. Legendary songwriter and producer Ted Jarrett was head of A&R. The labels were out of business by the mid-1950s when the three men went into partnership to start the Calvert-Champion-Cherokee group of labels.
