Grant Doyle (born 1971) is an Australian/British operatic baritone. Biography Born in Adelaide, Doyle studied voice at the Elder Conservatorium and then the Opera School at the Royal College of Music in London, subsequently winning a place on the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Adelaide ( ) is the capital city of South Australia, the state's largest city and the fifth-most populous city in Australia. A Midsummer Night's Dream (opera)
''A Midsummer Night's Dream'', Op. 64, is an opera with music by Benjamin Britten and set to a libretto adapted by the composer and Peter Pears from William Shakespeare's play, '' A Midsummer Night's Dream''. It was premiered on 11 June 1960 at the Aldeburgh Festival, conducted by the composer and with set and costume designs by Carl Toms. Stylistically, the work is typical of Britten, with a highly individual sound-world – not strikingly dissonant or atonal, but replete with subtly atmospheric harmonies and tone painting. The role of Oberon was composed for the countertenor Alfred Deller. Atypically for Britten, the opera did not include a leading role for his partner Pears, who instead was given the comic drag role of Flute/Thisbe. The Teatro Real (Royal Theatre) is an opera house in Madrid, Spain. Garsington Opera
Garsington Opera is an annual summer opera festival founded in 1989 by Leonard Ingrams. The Philharmonia Orchestra and The English Concert are its two resident orchestras. For 21 years it was held in the gardens of Ingrams's home at Garsington Manor in Oxfordshire. Since 2011 the festival is held in Wormsley Park, the home of the Getty family near Stokenchurch in Buckinghamshire, England. After Ingrams's death in 2005 Anthony Whitworth-Jones became its General Director until 2013 when Douglas Boyd became artistic director. ''The Skating Rink'' is a British opera in three acts and an epilogue, with music by David Sawer and libretto by Rory Mullarkey. The opera, Sawer's fourth opera, is based on the novella ''The Skating Rink'' by Roberto Bolaño. Garsington Opera commissioned the opera and premiered it on 5 July 2018. Opera Holland Park
Opera Holland Park is a summer opera company which produces an annual season of opera performances, staged under a temporary canopy in front of the remains of Holland House, a Blitz-damaged building in Holland Park, west central London. The venue is fully covered but is open at the sides. The canopy was installed in 1988 and was initially used for a variety of music. Concerns about noise levels led to an increasing focus on opera from 1989, with productions staged by a variety of small opera companies. For the 2007 season, the theatre was expanded by the addition of a spectacular new canopy underneath which is new seating and other improved facilities. There are now 1,000 seats.
