Grand Canyon Antelopes Women's Basketball
The Grand Canyon Antelopes women's basketball team represents Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. They are a member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). History GCU began play in 1988, beginning as an NAIA team in District VII. They began play in NCAA Division II in 1991. They joined the Pacific West Conference in 1992 after two years in the Continental Divide Conference. They joined the California Collegiate Athletic Association in 1994, playing in the conference until 2004. After two independent seasons, they joined the Pacific West Conference in 2006. The program underwent the transition to Division I beginning in 2013, joining the Western Athletic Conference on July 1, 2013. The four-year process means that the team cannot be invited nor play in the Division I Tournament until 2018, though they can play in the WNIT or WBI. Grand Canyon University (GCU) is a private for-profit Christian university in Phoenix, Arizona. Based on student enrollment, Grand Canyon University was the largest Christian university in the world in 2018, with 20,000 attending students on campus and 70,000 online. Grand Canyon was established by the Arizona Southern Baptist Convention on August 1, 1949, in Prescott, Arizona, as Grand Canyon College. In 1999–2000, the university ended its affiliation with the Southern Baptist Convention. The Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners women's basketball represents California State University, Bakersfield in Bakersfield, California, United States. They compete in the Big West Conference. History Cal State Bakersfield began play in 2000. As of the end of the 2015–16 season, the Roadrunners have an all-time record of 317–171. They were a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association from 2000 to 2006 before joining the WAC in 2013. The Alaska Anchorage Seawolves are the 13 varsity athletic teams that represent the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), in Anchorage, Alaska, United States, in NCAA intercollegiate sports.
