Grammy Award For Best Rap Solo Performance
The Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance was awarded from 1991 to 2011, alongside the Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group. Previously, a single award was presented for Best Rap Performance. In 2003, this award was split into separate awards for Best Female Rap Solo Performance and Best Male Rap Solo Performance. In 2005, it was again presented as a single award. As of 2012, the award was permanently discontinued due to a major overhaul of Grammy categories. Since 2012, all solo and duo/group rap performances has been shifted to the revived Best Rap Performance category. Mitchell Charles Johnson (born October 2, 1969) better known by his stage name Paperboy, is an American rapper. He is best known for his single " Ditty" which charted at #10 on the Hot 100 in 1993. Johnson was born in San Diego, California, and later moved to Oakland. Career Paperboy's associated acts were R. Kelly, Eazy-E, and Rhythm D. His most acclaimed album was his 1993 debut, '' The Nine Yards'', which was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). "Let Me Ride" is a song by American rapper and producer Dr. Dre, released in August 1993 by Death Row, Interscope and Priority as the third and final single from his debut studio album, ''The Chronic'' (1992).
