Graham Morgan (drummer)
Graham Morgan (born Melbourne, 30 April 1937) is an Australian drummer and teacher of drumming. He was educated at Melbourne Grammar School. In 1962 he travelled to Los Angeles to study under prominent drummers Joe Morello and Murray Spivack. His work in television includes playing on the first ABC television broadcast in 1956, and over twenty years as staff drummer at GTV-9, playing in bands on live shows such as '' The Don Lane Show''. He also played for 10 years on programmes on the 0/10 Network, including '' Young Talent Time'' and ''The Ernie Sigley Show''. Joe Morello
Joseph Albert Morello (July 17, 1928 – March 12, 2011) was an American jazz drummer best known for serving as the drummer for pianist Dave Brubeck, as part of the Dave Brubeck Quartet, from 1957 to 1972, including during the quartet's "classic lineup" from 1958 to 1968, which also included alto saxophonist Paul Desmond and bassist Eugene Wright. Morello's facility for playing unusual time signatures and rhythms enabled that group to record a series of albums that explored unusual time signatures. The most notable of these was the first in the series, the 1959 album '' Time Out'', which contained the hit songs "Take Five" and "Blue Rondo à la Turk". In fact, "Take Five", the album's biggest hit (and the first jazz single to sell more than one million copies) was specifically written by Desmond as a way to showcase Morello's ability to play in time. Murray Spivack
Murray Spivack (September 6, 1903 – May 8, 1994) was an American audio engineering, sound engineer best known as the sound designer for the 1933 film ''King Kong (1933 film), King Kong''. He won an Academy Awards, Oscar for Academy Award for Best Sound Mixing, Sound Recording and was nominated for another in the same category. He was also a drum teacher whose students included Louie Bellson, Remo Belli, David Garibaldi (musician), David Garibaldi, William Kraft, Alan Maitland, Jim Banks, Chad Wackerman and Joe Morello. GTV (Australian TV Station)
GTV is a commercial television station in Melbourne, Australia, owned by the Nine Network. The station is currently based at studios at 717 Bourke Street, Docklands. History GTV-9 was amongst the first television stations to begin regular transmission in Australia. Test transmissions began on 27 September 1956, introduced by former 3DB radio announcer Geoff Corke, based at the Mount Dandenong transmitter, as the studios in Richmond were not yet ready. The station covered the 1956 Summer Olympics which Melbourne hosted., the 1956 Carols By Candlelight and the Davis Cup tennis as part of its test transmissions. The station was officially opened on 19 January 1957 by Victorian Governor Sir Dallas Brooks from the studios in Bendigo Street, Richmond. A clip from the ceremony has featured in a number of GTV-9 retrospectives, in which the Governor advises viewers that if they did not like the programs, they could just turn off. The Don Lane Show
''The Don Lane Show'' was an Australian television talk show which aired twice a week on the Nine Network from 1975 to 1983. The show was created by Don Lane who co-hosted it with Bert Newton. Channel Nine was reluctant to cast Bert Newton, who had been associated with Graham Kennedy, but Lane insisted that he wanted Newton to do the show. The theme music of the show, "You Make It So Easy", was written by Helen Reddy. Legacy The show became one of the most popular talks shows in Australian television history. Its broadcast timeslot varied in its early years, including a brief stint in 1980 when it ran four nights a week, but eventually settled on Mondays and Thursdays at 9:30pm on the Nine Network and many stations across Australia. ''Young Talent Time'' is an Australian television variety program produced by Lewis-Young Productions and screened on Network Ten. The original series ran from 1971 until 1988 and was hosted by singer-songwriter and record producer Johnny Young for its entire run. The show was briefly revived by Network Ten in 2012 and was hosted by singer and actor Rob Mills. Ernie Sigley
Ernest William Sigley (2 September 1938 – 15 August 2021) was an Australian television host, comedian, variety performer, radio presenter and singer. Known as a pioneer of radio and television in Australian, he was often styled as a "little Aussie battler" with a larrikin sense of humour. Sigley started his career in radio, before becoming a presenter of TV programs and was best known for his self-titled program ''The Ernie Sigley Show'' and ''Saturday Night Live'' as well as original host of game show ''Wheel of Fortune'', after presenting talk shows with his frequent co-presenter Denise Drysdale in the late 80s and early 90s, he returned to presenting radio broadcasts, until retiring in 2009. The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is an Australian orchestra based in Melbourne. The MSO is resident at Hamer Hall. The MSO has its own choir, the MSO Chorus, following integration with the Melbourne Chorale in 2008.
