Grace O'Flanagan
Grace O'Flanagan (born 7 April 1989) is an Ireland women's national field hockey team, Ireland women's field hockey international. She was a member of the Ireland team that played in the 2018 Women's Hockey World Cup final. In 2009 O'Flanagan also won an Irish Senior Cup (women's hockey), Irish Senior Cup final with UCD Ladies' Hockey Club, UCD and in 2012–13 won a Women's Irish Hockey League/Irish Senior Cup double with Railway Union Sports Club, Railway Union. O'Flanagan is also a qualified doctor and cancer survivor. Early years and education Between 2001 and 2007 O'Flanagan attended Loreto College, Foxrock. Between 2007 and 2010 she attended University College Dublin where she gained a Bachelor of Commerce in Banking And Finance. Between 2010 and 2016 she attended the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and subsequently qualified as a doctor. While attending RCSI, O'Flanagan also played for the college's hockey team. UCD Ladies' Hockey Club
UCD Ladies' Hockey Club is a women's field hockey club based in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, Ireland. It is the women's field hockey club of University College Dublin. In addition to playing in Colours matches with Dublin University and competing in intervarsity tournaments, the club also enter teams in the Women's Irish Hockey League, the Irish Senior Cup and the Irish Junior Cup. During the 2010s UCD has emerged as one Ireland's strongest teams in women's field hockey, winning three Irish Hockey League titles and four Irish Senior Cups. Senior House Officer
A senior house officer (SHO) is a non-consultant hospital doctor in the Republic of Ireland. SHOs are supervised in their work by consultants and registrars. In training posts these registrars and consultants oversee training and are usually their designated clinical supervisors. The same structure to junior doctor grades also applied previously in the National Health Service in the UK, and informal use of the term persists there. 2017 Women's Four Nations Cup
The 2018 Women's Four Nations Cup was the seventh Hockey Four Nations Cup, an international women's field hockey tournament, consisting of a series of test matches. It was held in Germany, from June 15 to 18, 2017, and featured four of the top nations in women's field hockey. The England women's national field hockey team are the current Commonwealth Games champions having previously won silver 3 times. England have also won the 2006 Women's Field Hockey World Cup Qualifier and the 2002 Champions Challenge. History Marjorie Pollard played hockey nearly every year for England from 1921 to 1937. The team toured New Zealand in 1938 and the US in 1947. Notable players were Barbara and Bridget West, Hilda Light and Mary Russell Vick. 2017 Women's EuroHockey Nations Championship
The 2017 Women's EuroHockey Nations Championship was the 13th edition of the women's field hockey championship organised by the European Hockey Federation. It was held from 18–26 August 2017 in the Wagener Stadium, Amstelveen, Netherlands. The tournament also served as a qualifier for the 2018 Women's Hockey World Cup, with the winner qualifying. Penalty Stroke
In field hockey, a penalty stroke, sometimes known as a penalty flick, is the most severe penalty given. It is predominantly awarded when a foul has prevented a certain goal from being scored or for a deliberate infringement by a defender in the penalty circle. Awarding a penalty stroke There are two reasons why a penalty stroke may be awarded: *For an intentional foul on an attacker who has possession of or opportunity to play the ball in the circle *For a foul in the penalty circle that prevents "the probable scoring of a goal". India Women's National Field Hockey Team
The Indian women's national field hockey team (nicknamed the ''Nabhvarna'') represents India in international field hockey, and is governed by Hockey India. Nabhvarna are currently ranked 6th in the FIH World Rankings, and are ranked as the best team in Asia. They have won the gold medals at the 2002 Commonwealth Games and 1982 Asian Games. Ayeisha McFerran
Ayeisha McFerran (born 10 January 1996) is an Ireland women's field hockey international. She was a member of the Ireland team that played in the 2018 Women's Hockey World Cup final. She was also named Goalkeeper of the Tournament. McFerran was also a member of the Pegasus team that won the 2014–15 Women's Irish Hockey League. Between 2015 and 2017 she was named three times as an NFHCA All-American while playing for Louisville Cardinals. Early years, family and education McFerran is originally from Larne. She is the daughter of George and Sandra McFerran. She has three siblings, Tamara, Reece and Shea. Her mother died when McFerran was 15.
