Wilhelm August Graah
Wilhelm August Graah (1793–1863) was a Danish naval officer and Arctic explorer. Graah had mapped areas of West Greenland when he, in 1828–30, was sent by King Frederick VI of Denmark on an expedition to the unmapped eastern coast with the purpose to search for the lost Eastern Norse Settlement. Expedition The expedition set out from Copenhagen in the brig ''Hvalfisken'', but - once arrived in Greenland - used umiaks able to navigate in the waters between the coast and the sea ice of southeastern Greenland. In 1829, the expedition reached Dannebrog Island (65° 18' N), where it was stopped by ice. They wintered at Nugarlik (63° 22' N) and returned to the settlements on the west coast of Greenland in 1830. Two naturalists participated - the geologist Christian Pingel and the botanist Jens Vahl. Graah published an account of the exploration. Graah named the southeastern coast of Greenland King Frederick VI Coast and mapped about 550 km of formerly uncharted territory. ...

Lille Graah
Anne Knudsdatter "Lille" Graah (22 January 1908 – 19 January 2001) was a Norwegian journalist, radio announcer and reporter. She worked for the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation for more than thirty years, and is particularly known from the popular radio program ''Ønskekonserten''. Personal life Graah was born in Kristiania as the daughter of Knud Andreas Graah (1866–1908) and nurse Marie Blehr. She was the granddaughter of industrialist Knud Graah. Career Graah finished her secondary education in 1927, and then spent some years helping her mother who was running a children's pensionary in Eidsvoll. She then worked as a governess in Moscow. In Moscow she also studied theatre with Vsevolod Meyerhold at the Vakhtangov Theatre. From 1937 she was a journalist for the Oslo magazine ''Hallo-Hallo!'', and worked for '' Norsk Lovtidend'' from 1940. Knud Graah
Knud Graah (13 June 1817 – 27 March 1909) was a Danish born, Norwegian industrialist and pioneer in the Norwegian textile industry. Biography Graah was born in Thisted, Denmark. He moved to Christiania (now Oslo) in 1833, where he first took employment with the trading firm of H. Gulbranson. In the 1840s he was on a trip to familiarize himself with the textile industry in the English textile centers of Lancashire and Manchester. In 1844, he founded Nedre Vøiens Bomuldsspinderie (later known as Knud Graah & Co A/S) to operate a cotton mill in the Oslo neighborhood of Nydalen. The plant was located near the river Akerselva, after Graah first bought waterfall rights of the river. Graah obtained textile machines and skilled workers for the operation of the new cotton mill from Great Britain. Vøiens Bomuldsspinderi started production from 1846. Graah Fjord
Graah Fjord, also known as Devold Fjord and Langenæs Fjord, is a fjord in King Frederick VI Coast, eastern Greenland. Administratively it is part of the Sermersooq municipality. History There are remains of ancient Inuit settlements of the southern group in Imaarsivik, a coastal island at the entrance of the fjord. The fjord was named after Arctic explorer Wilhelm August Graah of the Danish Navy, who was the first to map this area of the coast of Greenland during an 1828–31 expedition in search of the legendary Eastern Norse Settlement. Finnsbu was a Norwegian weather and radio station opened on the shore of the fjord by Finn Devold on behalf of the Arctic Trading Co. Devold had first chosen a site in Timmiarmiut Fjord when he arrived in 1932 on Ship ''Heimen'' from Tromsø, but then moved to this site to establish the station. The station was abandoned in 1933.
