José Manuel De Goyeneche, 1st Count Of Guaqui
José Manuel de Goyeneche y Barreda, 1st Count of Guaqui (June 12, 1776 in Arequipa, Viceroyalty of Peru – October 10, 1846 in Madrid) was a Spanish soldier and diplomat. Early life His father was captain of cavalry Juan de Goyeneche y Aguerrevere and his mother was María Josefa de Barreda y Benavides, daughter of field marshal Don Nicolás de Barreda y Ovando, from a noble family of military men and conquistadors. He travelled when very young to Spain, to finish his studies, and entered the army as cadet, later raising to lieutenant of cavalry and captain of grenadiers. He took part of the defense of Cádiz against the British in two occasions, having been in command of two hundred grenadiers and two gun batteries in the second. Roberto Goyeneche
Roberto Goyeneche (January 29, 1926 in Saavedra, Autonomous City of Buenos Aires – August 27, 1994 in Buenos Aires) was an Argentine tango singer of Basque descent, who epitomized the archetype of 1950s Buenos Aires' bohemian life, and became a living legend in the local music scene. He was known as ''El Polaco'' ("the Pole") due to his blond hair, and thinness, like the Polish immigrants of the time. He is identified with the neighborhood of Saavedra, where he grew up. Career Roberto Goyeneche was formed in the style of the tango of Carlos Gardel, later reached a more personal style characterised by his particular way of phrasing with rubato. In 1944, at the age of 18, he joined Raúl Kaplún's orchestra after winning a local contest and soon gave his live debut performance on Radio Belgrano. In 1952 Goyeneche teamed up with Horacio Salgán. Vicente Carvallo Y Goyeneche
Vicente Carvallo y Goyeneche (1742–1816) was a Chilean soldier, author and historian of Basque descent, born in Valdivia. Author of the ''Descripcion Histórico Geografía del Reino de Chile'', covering the history and geography of the Captaincy General of Chile from the beginning of the Spanish conquest to 1789. The book remained unpublished for eighty years, until it was published between 1875 and 1876 by José Toribio Medina. The text is divided in two sections. In the first Carvallo narrates events beginning with the Conquest of Chile up to the year 1789. The second section consists of a description of all the provinces of the country and the customs of the Mapuche. It was published in three parts, the last in 1876.
