Bruce County
Bruce County is a county in Southwestern Ontario, Canada comprising eight lower-tier municipalities and with a 2016 population of 66,491. It is named for James Bruce, 8th Earl of Elgin and 12th Earl of Kincardine, sixth Governor General of the Province of Canada. The Bruce name is also linked to the Bruce Trail and the Bruce Peninsula. It has three distinct areas. The Peninsula is part of the Niagara Escarpment and is known for its views, rock formations, cliffs, and hiking trails. The Lakeshore includes nearly 100 km of fresh water and soft sandy beaches. Finally, the Interior Region has a strong history in farming. Gould Lake (Frontenac County)
Gould Lake is a lake north of the community of Sydenham in the Township of South Frontenac, Frontenac County, in eastern Ontario, Canada. It is on the Canadian Shield, is part of the Great Lakes Basin, and is part of the headwaters of the Millhaven Creek system. In the 19th century and early-20th century, the area around Gould Lake was noted for its mica mines. Gould Lake drains south through Silvers Lake and Little Long Lake, and then into Eel Bay, an extension of Sydenham Lake. Sydenham Lake in turn drains into Millhaven Creek, which flows to Lake Ontario. Much of the southwest end of the lake is in the Gould Lake Conservation Area, which is under the management of the Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority. Gould Lake Conservation Area
Gould Lake Conservation Area is a rural conservation area located in the Canadian Shield northwest of the community of Sydenham in the Township of South Frontenac, Frontenac County, in eastern Ontario, Canada. The area was created to manage water resources, preserve wildlife habitat, and provide recreational and educational opportunities, and is managed by the Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority. The conservation area contains much of Gould Lake. Geology and geography The conservation area lies just north of the bedrock scarp that denotes the boundary between the Canadian Shield of the Frontenac Axis with its Precambrian bedrock and the Paleozoic Ordovician formations to the south. The bedrock was significantly eroded by the glaciers of the Late Wisconsinan age. The headwaters of the Millhaven Creek system lies within the area. Gould Lake is a lake mostly in geographic Lee Township, with a small part in geographic Bompas Township in Timiskaming District, in northeastern Ontario, Canada. The south of the lake is in Bompas Township, and the north in Lee Township. The lake is also in the James Bay drainage basin. The primary inflow, at the south, is Sarsfield Creek, arriving from Ellis Lake. The primary outflow, at the north, is also Sarsfield Creek, which heads north to Sarsfield Lake. Sarsfield Creek flows via Meyers Lake, Woollings Creek, the Whiteclay River, the Black River, the Abitibi River and the Moose River to James Bay. River To River Trail
The River to River Trail is a 160 mile (256 km)-long hiking trail that serves Shawnee National Forest in far southern Illinois. The trail is used by both equestrians and hikers. About half is on off road trails. Its eastern terminus has historically been Battery Rock, overlooking the Ohio River but now generally Elizabethtown, Illinois is used as the eastern terminus. The western terminus is in Grand Tower, Illinois, at the Mississippi River. Sections of the River to River Trail form part of the Southern Section of the American Discovery Trail. Shingobee Township is a township in Cass County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,745 as of the 2000 census. This township took its name from the Shingobee River. Geography There are two townships, North and South and according to the United States Census Bureau, the townships have a total area of 71.8 square miles (185.9 km), of which 53.7 square miles (139.1 km) is land and 18.1 square miles (46.8 km) (25.16%) is water.
