Gotland Military Command
Gotland Military Command ( sv, Gotlands militärkommando, MKG) previously VII Military District ( sv, VII. militärområdet) was a Military district (Sweden), military district, and later a Command (military formation), command in the Swedish Armed Forces. It existed between the years 1942 and 2000. The staff of the military district was located within Gotland Garrison in Visby on Gotland. History Gotland Military Command was established on 1 October 1942 as the VII Military District (''VII. militärområdet'') and was commanded by a military commander which had the responsibility of the territorial and land operational task. In 1966 the name was changed to Gotland Military Command and was included as a Command (military formation), command in the Milo Ö, Eastern Military District (Milo Ö). Gotland Regiment
The Gotland Regiment ( sv, Gotlands regemente, P 18) is a Swedish Army armoured Armour (British English) or armor (American English; see spelling differences) is a covering used to protect an object, individual, or vehicle from physical injury or damage, especially direct contact weapons or projectiles during combat, or f ... regiment which has been active in various forms between 1963–1994 and 2000–2005, when it was disbanded. Sven-Åke Jansson
Lieutenant General Sven-Åke Jansson (25 October 1937 – 10 September 2014) was a senior Swedish Army officer. He served as commander of Gotland Military Command (1988–1994) and as Commanding General of the Southern Military District (1994–1998). Career Jansson was commissioned as an officer in 1961 after graduating from the Swedish Armed Forces School for Secondary Education in Uppsala. He was then assigned to the North Scanian Infantry Regiment (I 6) in Kristianstad. As a second lieutenant, Jansson was ordered in June 1962 to Scanian Armoured Regiment (P 2) to serve in its 1st Company. Lieutenant General Lars-Eric Malcom Wahlgren (14 May 1929 – 10 October 1999) was a Swedish Army officer. Lieutenant General Karl Gustaf Brandberg (13 September 1905 – 19 September 1997) was a senior Swedish Army officer. He served as Commanding General of the VII Military District (1963–1966) and Gotland Military Command (1966–1968) and as Chief of Home Guard (1968–1971).
