Goslings Bank
Goslings Bank was a historical English private bank, located since at least 1743 at No. 19 Fleet Street, London, and identified to customers by a hanging signboard depicting three squirrels. History The bank originated in the business of Henry Pinckney, a goldsmith-banker who began trading in about 1650 at the sign of the Three Squirrels. The business passed through various hands until it came under the sole ownership of Thomas Ward, following the death of his partner in 1742. Ward brought in Sir Francis Gosling only for he (Ward) to die the following year. Ward’s replacement was Samael Bennett, a prominent East India merchant who brought valuable Indian business. On Bennett’s retirement, George Clive, a relative of Lord Clive, became a partner, the name of the firm changing to Gosling, Gosling and Clive. George Clive died in 1779 and more Goslings joined the partnership, the firm being known as Messrs Gosling for some years. Matthews, P W & Tuke, A W, ''History of Barclay ...

Ginger Beer
Traditional ginger beer is a sweetened and carbonated, usually non-alcoholic beverage. Historically it was produced by the natural fermentation of prepared ginger spice, yeast and sugar. Current ginger beers are often manufactured rather than brewed, frequently with flavour and colour additives, with artificial carbonation. Ginger ales are not brewed. Ginger beer's origins date from the colonial spice trade with the Orient and the sugar-producing islands of the Caribbean. It was popular in Britain and its colonies from the 18th century. Other spices were variously added and any alcohol content was limited to 2% by excise tax laws in 1855. Few brewers have maintained an alcoholic product. Ginger beer is still produced at home using a symbiotic colony of yeast and a ''Lactobacillus'' (bacteria) known as a "ginger beer plant" or from a "ginger bug" starter created from fermenting ginger, sugar, and water. History As early as 500 BC, ginger was used as a medicine as well as for ...

Gosling's Rum
Gosling Brothers Limited is a Bermudan company primarily concerned with blending and distributing rum, importing and distributing spirits on the island, and maintaining a retail presence. History In early 1806 James Gosling set out from England with £10,000 in merchandise bound for America. The ship's charter had expired on the ninety-first day of the voyage, so they set in at the nearest port, Bermuda. However, instead of going on to America, Gosling set up shop on the island later that year. In 1824, the company rented their iconic store on Front Street. The Goslings started formulating rum blends in 1860, and in three years, they had developed Old Rum, a dark, full-bodied rum. Originally distributed only in barrels and sold to those bringing their own bottles, the rum became more widely available with the introduction of bottling in Champagne bottles, the most widely available at the time. The bottles were salvaged from the British Officers' Mess and were sealed with black sea ...
