The Gorky Institute of World Literature (IMLI; russian: Институт мировой литературы им. А. М. Горького РАН) is a research institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow. Not to be confused with the Gorky Literary Institute, which is an institute of higher education that trains writers, the A. M. Gorky Institute of World Literature is a scientific research institute and part of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It was founded on 17 September 1932 for the 40th anniversary of Maxim Gorky's literary activity, and is located in the former estate of the Gagarin family in Moscow. The institute is organized into departments, each specializing in a specific region or genre of literature. Domenico Gilardi
Domenico Gilardi (Доменико Жилярди, 1785–1845), was a Swiss architect who worked primarily in Moscow, Russia in Neoclassicist style. He was one of key architects charged with rebuilding the city after the Fire of 1812. Gilardi’s legacy survives in public buildings like Moscow Orphanage, Widows’ House, Catherine’s Institute and the Old Hall of Moscow University. Early life The Gilardi family of architects, originally from Ticino, established itself in Russia in the middle of the 18th century. Domenico’s father Giovanni, also known as ''Ivan Dementievich'', was well known in Moscow. Domenico was born in Montagnola and lived there until his mother brought him to Russia in 1796. Ivan Kapitonovich Luppol (Russian: Иван Капитонович Лу́ппол; (13) January 1896, Rostov-on-Don – 26 May 1943, Zubovo-Polyansky District) was a Soviet philosopher, literary critic and academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Soviet Union. Biography Luppol attended the Faculty of Law of the Moscow University, graduating in 1919. National Pushkin Museum
The National Pushkin Museum ( rus, Всероссийский музей А. С. Пушкина, r=Vsyerossiiskii muzei A. S. Pushkina - literally the 'All-Russian Museum of A. S. Pushkin') is a museum dedicated to the life and work of Russian poet Alexander Pushkin. It is located in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The museum was established in 1953 on the basis of the All-Russian Pushkin Exhibition of 1937 which opened in Moscow. The exhibition was opened in the Alexander Palace in the town of Pushkin in 1949. Later the exhibition was transferred to 17 halls of the Winter Palace, and in 1999 a new literary exposition entitled ''A. S. Lev Kamenev
Lev Borisovich Kamenev. (''né'' Rozenfeld; – 25 August 1936) was a Bolshevik revolutionary and a prominent Soviet politician. Born in Moscow to parents who were both involved in revolutionary politics, Kamenev attended Imperial Moscow University before becoming a revolutionary himself, joining the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party (RSDLP) in 1901 and was active in Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Tiflis (now Tbilisi). He took part in the failed Russian Revolution of 1905. Relocating abroad in 1908, Kamenev became an early member of the Bolsheviks and a close associate of the exiled Vladimir Lenin. The All-Union Central Executive Committee (russian: Всесоюзный Центральный исполнительный комитет, Vsesoyuznyy Tsentral'nyy ispolnitel'nyy komitet) was the most authoritative governing body of the USSR during the interims of the sessions of the All-Union Congress of Soviets. Established in 1922 by the First All-Union Congress of Soviets (see Treaty on the Creation of the USSR), in 1938 it was replaced by the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of first convocation.
