Golden Calf (award)
The Golden Calf ( nl, Gouden Kalf) is the award of the Netherlands Film Festival, which is held annually in Utrecht. The award has been presented since 1981, originally in six categories: Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Feature Film, Best Short Film, Culture Prize and Honourable mention. In 2004, there were 16 award categories, mainly because in 2003 the categories Best Photography, Best Montage, Best Music, Best Production Design, Best Sound Design were added. Willem Breuker
Willem Breuker (4 November 1944 – 23 July 2010) was a Dutch bandleader, composer, arranger, saxophonist, and clarinetist. Career During the mid 1960s, he played with percussionist Han Bennink and pianist Misha Mengelberg, co-founding the Instant Composers Pool (ICP), with which he regularly performed until 1973. He was a member of the Globe Unity Orchestra and the Gunter Hampel Group. In 1974, he began leading the 10-piece Willem Breuker Kollektief, which performed jazz in a theatrical and often unconventional manner, drawing elements from theater and vaudeville. With the group, he toured Western Europe, Russia, Australia, India, China, Japan, the United States, and Canada. In 1974, he founded the record label BV Haast. Beginning in 1977, he organized the annual Klap op de Vuurpijl (Top It All) festival in Amsterdam. Haast Music Publishers, which he also operated, published his scores. George Sluizer
George Sluizer (25 June 1932 – 20 September 2014) was a French-born Dutch filmmaker whose credits included features as well as documentary films. Career Born in Paris, France, to a Dutch-Jewish father and a Norwegian mother, he was best known for directing two versions of '' The Vanishing'', a 1988 Dutch-language release, originally titled ''Spoorloos'', and the 1993 American version. Other feature films directed by Sluizer included '' Utz'' (1992) for producer John Goldschmidt, '' Crimetime'' (1995), and '' Dark Blood'', which was discontinued after the death of its lead actor River Phoenix, but later completed and premiered at the Netherlands Film Festival in 2012. Edgar Burcksen (born 13 May 1947, Apeldoorn), is a Dutch film editor, who moved to the United States in 1985 after editing over 15 films in the Netherlands. He is a member of the American Cinema Editors and is fluent in English, German, French and Dutch. History After a successful career as a film editor in The Netherlands, he settled in California, where he became the supervising editor for 52 episodes of "Seabert", a French cartoon that later became televised by HBO. Afterwards, Burcksen was hired by Colossal Pictures where he collaborated editorially on many commercials, including those for Disney, Budweiser, and Levi's. Burcksen was hired by ILM in 1989 to become the visual effects editor on ''The Hunt for Red October''. Based on his success, he was later assigned to post production on ''Die Hard 2''.
