Gold Teeth Thief is a live-recorded DJ mix by DJ and producer DJ /rupture, which he self-released in 2001 as a CD-R and internet download. It was rereleased by Violent Turd, (a sublabel of Tigerbeat6) in August 2002 and named one of the "50 Records of the Year" by '' The Wire'' in 2001. The mixtape consists of forty-three tracks in sixty-eight minutes, including breakcore, ragga and Arabic folk music, as well as popular music. Jace Clayton, better known as DJ /rupture, is a New York-based American DJ, writer and interdisciplinary artist. In addition to his music, Clayton has established a blog identity with musical and non-musical posts on his website, "mudd up!". His book, ''Uprooot: Travels in 21st-Century Music and Digital Culture'', was published in 2016. Life and career Clayton spent his teenage years in North Andover, Massachusetts. In the mid-1990s, Clayton was a member of Toneburst, described as "Boston's most active and visible experimental electronic art/music/DJ collective", pursuing "a steadfastly DIY aesthetic". Carlton Errington Grant (born 30 May 1969), better known as Spragga Benz, is a Jamaican dancehall deejay. Career He began his career around 1991. He was once known to his friends as "Spaghetti" (tall and slim), but this was later shortened to Spragga. The Benz in his name comes from the sound system for which he used to work for, L.A.
