	Alain Godon Alain Godon is a French painter and sculptor. Biography Alain Godon was born 1 November 1964 in Bourges, France, and learned to draw at the age of 11 in Achicourt, France, at the side of his artist uncle. In 1985 he moved to Paris and then to Brighton (England), earning his living as a pavement graffiti artist. In 1988 in the French ski resort of Courchevel, he began the first period of what he refers to as "Infantine Art". By 1989 he had moved to Saint Tropez and started to paint his first oils on canvas. Alain currently lives in London. Of Godon's art, Jean-Pierre Delarge declares that it is "aligned with free figuration drawing on the caricature figures of his graffiti origins. His representations are simplistic, his colors vivid, his outlines defined by thin black strokes; his figuration achieves contour and definition in the composition of curved and straight lines. 	Ingrid Godon Ingrid Godon (born 29 August 1958) is a Flanders, Flemish illustrator of children's literature. Career She won the Prijs van de Kinder- en Jeugdjury voor het boek in Vlaanderen in 1988 and in 1989 for respectively illustrating the books ''Pius en Pepijn'' and ''Niemand mag het weten'' written by Gerda van Cleemput. She also won the award in 1988 for illustrating the book ''Mijn broer is een punker'' by Maria Heylen. In 2001, Godon and André Sollie won the Gouden Griffel award for their book ''Wachten op Matroos'' (2000). She also won a Vlag en Wimpel award for her illustrations in the book. In Flanders the book was awarded the Boekenpauw and Boekenwelp awards. The English translation of the book ''Hello, Sailor (book), Hello, Sailor'' was published in 2003. The book caused controversy in England as it was argued that its inclusion in school curricula effectively forced schools to include books with homosexual characters. picture info	Sylvanus William Godon Sylvanus William Godon (June 18, 1809 – May 17, 1879) was an American naval officer who served in the Mexican–American and American Civil War. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Godon entered the United States Navy in 1819 as a midshipman. He joined the Navy at an early age as a way to receive an education after his father, a noted French mineralogist, went insane and became destitute. He served at sea in various parts of the world and was promoted passed midshipman in 1827, and to lieutenant on December 17, 1836. He served on the as flag lieutenant to Commodore Isaac Hull of the Mediterranean Squadron from 1839 to 1841. Godon was accused of insubordination by Hull and sent back to the Navy Department for reassignment. He was found guilty of disobedience of orders and neglect of duty and sentenced to two years suspension from duty but the conviction was reversed by the Secretary of the Navy and no punishment occurred.
