Cognac (drink)
Cognac ( , also , ) is a variety of brandy named after the commune of Cognac, France. It is produced in the surrounding wine-growing region in the departments of Charente and Charente-Maritime. Cognac production falls under French appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) designation, with production methods and naming required to meet certain legal requirements. Among the specified grapes, Ugni blanc, known locally as Saint-Émilion, is most widely used. The brandy must be twice distilled in copper pot stills and aged at least two years in French oak barrels from Limousin or Tronçais. Cognac matures in the same way as whiskies and wines barrel-age, and most cognacs spend considerably longer "on the wood" than the minimum legal requirement. Production process Cognac is a type of brandy, and after the distillation and during the aging process, is also called ''eau de vie''. It is produced by twice distilling grapes produced in any of the designated growing regions. G ...

Godet (sewing)
A godet ( or ) is an extra piece of fabric in the shape of a circular sector which is set into a garment, usually a dress or skirt. The addition of a godet causes the article of clothing in question to flare, thus adding width and volume. The most popular use of godets is in petticoats. Adding a godet to a piece of clothing also gives the wearer a wider range of motion. A “flutter of godets” is mentioned during the fashion show scene of the film “The Great Muppet Caper”. Kermit the Frog, in fact, claims to have been “taken aback” by them. See also *Gore (fabrics) *Gusset *Pleat A pleat (plait in older English) is a type of fold formed by doubling fabric back upon itself and securing it in place. It lies in the southeast of the sound, and is part of Paget parish, although it was formerly part of Warwick Parish and is still within the Warwick North constituency. Hinson's Island is the only island in Bermuda served by the government ferry system. The population of Hinson's Island is approximately 50 people. Frédéric Louis Godet
Frédéric Louis Godet (October 25, 1812, in Neuchâtel – October 29, 1900, Neuchâtel) was a Swiss Protestant theologian. Biography Godet was born on October 25, 1812, in Neuchâtel. His father, Paul-Henri, who was a lawyer, died early. His mother, Eusébie née Gallot, a pious, strong and intelligent pastor's daughter, who founded a girls' school, devoted herself to his early training. He conducted preparatory studies in Neuchâtel, and then studied theology in Berlin and Bonn. There, he came into contact with the leading theologians of the day, like Hengstenberg, Tholuck, Nitzsh, Steffens, Neander and Schleiermacher. Of these, Neander exerted the greatest influence on him. Important spiritual influences came from Otto von Gerlach and Baron von Kottwitz, ensuring an emphasis on piety rather than mere intellectualism. Nikolaus von Zinzendorf and Johannes Gossner also helped him overcome a spiritual crisis and come to a wholehearted commitment and faith in God's grace. Up ...

Paul Godet Des Marais
Paul Godet des Marais (1647–1709) was a French Bishop of Chartres. Marais was born at Talcy, near Blois. He studied at Saint-Sulpice, took the doctorate of theology at the Sorbonne, was ordained, and became (1677) superior of the '' Séminaire des Trente-Trois''. Louis XIV nominated him (1690) to the see of Chartres, but owing to difficulties between France and the Holy see the papal confirmation came only on 21 January 1692. As spiritual director of Mme de Maintenon, for whom he wrote ''Lettres de direction'', Godet used his influence to have Mme Guyon removed from Saint-Cyr. A staunch opponent of quietism, he signed with Cardinal Louis-Antoine de Noailles and Bossuet the ''Declaratio'' condemning Fénelon's ''Maximes des saints'' (1697) He then wrote (1698) several ordonnances, or pastoral letters, against the mysticism of Molinos, Fénelon, and Mme Guyon. He also did much to destroy Jansenism in France, refuted the '' cas de conscience'' (1703), commanded obedienc ...
