Bradley Godden (born 13 July 1969) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s. He played for the Newcastle Knights, Hunter Mariners, and the Leeds Rhinos as a or . Playing career Australia Godden started his first grade career with the Newcastle Knights, playing from the bench in a 30–0 loss to the Parramatta Eels at Parramatta Stadium in round 14 of the 1991 NSWRL season. He played just four games for the Knights in 1991, scoring his first try from fullback in round 19 at Marathon Stadium in a 32–16 win over the South Sydney Rabbitohs. Anthony Leonard Godden (born 2 August 1955) is an English former footballer who played as a goalkeeper in the Football League for West Bromwich Albion, Luton Town, Walsall, Chelsea, Birmingham City, Bury and Peterborough United. Career Godden was born in Gillingham, Kent, and began his career with Kent non-league club Ashford Town (Kent). He then joined West Bromwich Albion in 1977. He made 267 league appearances for the Midlands club, in addition to brief loan spells with Luton Town in 1982-83 and Walsall in 1983-84. He joined Chelsea after his time at West Brom. During his time at Chelsea he is most remembered for saving two penalties in a 1–0 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford in September 1986. Thomas Godden, real name Tylden (1624 in Addington, Kent – 1 December 1688 in London) was an English courtier and Catholic priest, who was falsely implicated on charges of murder and treason in the Titus Oates or Popish plot, but managed to flee the country. He was later completely vindicated. Life His father, William Tylden, was able to provide a liberal education for his son and Thomas was sent first to a private school in Holborogh, conducted by a Mr. Gill, and in his fifteenth year entered Queen's College, Oxford. The next year found him at St John's College, Cambridge, and in 1640 he was made a Billingsley scholar. Margaret Rumer Godden (10 December 1907 – 8 November 1998) was an English author of more than 60 fiction and non-fiction books. Nine of her works have been made into films, most notably ''Black Narcissus'' in 1947 and '' The River'' in 1951. Luke Godden
Luke Godden (born 21 September 1978) is a former Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League Godden was drafted in the 1995 AFL Draft at number 40 to Collingwood Magpies, Collingwood after playing with the Northern Knights U18 side and starting at Yarrambat junior football club. His jumper was number 43 and played in the reserves during the first season at the club, and most of his second season, before breaking into the side for a debut late in the year. He played 36 games in 1998 at half-back, normally a receiving player, yet he played the game hard. His played well under pressure and was a great at being able to get the ball in most situations. In 1999 he had a good season statistically, playing consistent football, averaging 16 disposals a game, but with the side not performing, he was part of a process which Mick Malthouse adopted in re-constructing the side, surprising most when Godden was delisted. Winsome Ruth Key Godden (August 1906 1984) was an English novelist who wrote under the name Jon Godden. She was born in Assam, India. She was the elder sister of the better-known novelist Rumer Godden. Early life The eldest of four daughters of Arthur Leigh Godden, an agent for a British Steamer Company in what is now Bangladesh, and Katherine Norah Hingley, Jon Godden spent almost all of her childhood and much of her adult life in India. She and her sister Rumer were sent to England for their education at the ages of 7 and 6, but the outbreak of World War I caused their parents to arrange their travel to Narayanganj, to which their father had been transferred from Assam while they were abroad. They remained there until Jon was 13, the experience later forming the basis of ''Two Under the Indian Sun'', an autobiographical work jointly written by Jon and her sister Rumer.
