Goth Rock
Gothic rock (also called goth rock or simply goth) is a style of rock music that emerged from post-punk in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s. The first post-punk bands which shifted toward dark music with gothic overtones include Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, Bauhaus, and the Cure. The genre itself was defined as a separate movement from post-punk. Gothic rock stood out due to its darker sound, with the use of primarily minor or bass chords, reverb, dark arrangements, or dramatic and melancholic melodies, having inspirations in gothic literature allied with themes such as sadness, nihilism, dark romanticism, tragedy, melancholy and morbidity. These themes are often approached poetically. The sensibilities of the genre led the lyrics to represent the evil of the century and the romantic idealization of death and the supernatural imagination. Gothic rock then gave rise to a broader goth subculture that included clubs, Gothic fashion, fashion and publications in the 1 ...

Middle Pillar
Within Thelema, the Great Work is generally defined as those spiritual practices leading to the accomplishment of the True Will of one's Self in mystical union with the All. Its founder, author and occultist Aleister Crowley, based this path of mystical attainment or enlightenment on his studies in Hermetic alchemy and the Hermetic Qabalah, particularly as they were expounded by Eliphas Levi in the 19th century and later by various members in the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, an occult society of which Crowley had been a member. Crowley wrote that in 1904 he heard and transcribed, from an entity called Aiwass, a book which came to be titled ''The Book of the Law''. Crowley made this book the central sacred text of his new religious movement called Thelema, which he believed heralded a new Aeon for mankind. Between 1907 and 1911, Crowley wrote a series of other small texts which he considered to be inspired, written through him rather than by him, which he afterwards colle ...

Shimmer (Bitter Grace Album)
''Shimmer'' is New York City's Bitter Grace's long-awaited follow up to '' God and the Abyss''. While ''Shimmer'' did not take as long to release, seven years to the twelve it took to finish the previous, the band still underwent line-up changes through the period of recording and releasing this album, however not as severely. Both bassists recorded on this album have left the band, though one of the guitarists that has been recorded here eventually returned in late 2005 just prior to its release after a hiatus. The difference in sound between '' God and the Abyss'' and ''Shimmer'' is striking, with the new direction of the band adding more elements of electronic dance music and a generally dancier sound. Keyboards are more prominent than before and the sound is less garage-centric and more melodic. The album itself is not released yet. Some tracks have been available for a while online and two initial singles, "Shimmering" and "Slave", have been receiving college and Inter ...
