Neal Morse
Neal Morse (born August 2, 1960) is an American singer, musician and composer based in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1992, he formed the progressive rock band Spock's Beard with his brother Alan and released an album which was moderately successful. In 1999, he joined Dream Theater's co-founder and then drummer Mike Portnoy, together with Flower Kings' Roine Stolt and Marillion's Pete Trewavas they formed the super-group Transatlantic. In 2002, Neal Morse became a born again Christian, left Spock's Beard and began a Christian rock solo career, releasing many progressive rock concept albums about his new religious faith. In the meantime, he continued to play with Transatlantic and formed three new bands with Portnoy, Yellow Matter Custard, Flying Colors and The Neal Morse Band. ''Sola Gratia'' (Latin for "grace alone") is the eleventh studio album by American progressive rock vocalist, keyboardist and guitarist Neal Morse, released on September 11, 2020. It marks his return to Inside Out Music. Recorded in April 2020, it is a concept album about Paul the Apostle, focusing on the period from his persecution of early Christians to his conversion. The album was released as a limited CD/DVD Digipak (with Making-of video footage), a Gatefold double LP and CD, a standard CD jewel case and on digital platforms. ''Innocence & Danger'' is the fourth album by American progressive rock group The Neal Morse Band (now stylized as "NMB"), released on August 27, 2021. It is Morse's twelfth progressive rock studio album overall. It is their first non-concept album following ''The Similitude of a Dream'' (2016) and '' The Great Adventure'' (2019), both inspired by John Bunyan's ''The Pilgrim's Progress''. The album was recorded over a week in the beginning of 2021 and for the first time Morse did not bring any demos with his ideas to the studio. A concept album, it is a sequel to 2016's '' The Similitude of a Dream'' and both are loosely based on ''The Pilgrim's Progress'' by John Bunyan, besides having similar covers. This album follows the protagonist's family as they journey to Celestial City to join him. The album was composed and recorded over a short period of time, with no preparation work before entering the studio.
