Gobionotothen Marionensis
''Gobionotothen marionensis'', the lobe-lip notothen, is a species of marine ray-finned fish belonging to the family Nototheniidae, the notothens or cod icefishes. It is native to the South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands in the Atlantic Ocean, and the Crozet and Prince Edward Islands in the Indian Ocean.> Taxonomy and etymology ''Gobionotothen marionensis'' was first formally described in 1880 as ''Notothenia marionensis'' by the German-born British ichthyologist Albert Günther with the type locality given as the Challenger Deep off Marion Island in the Indian Section of the Southern Ocean. The type was collected during the Challenger Expedition. '' G. angustifrons'' is treated as a synonym of this species by some authorities but as a valid species by others.
