Global Media Group (formerly Controlinveste) is a Portuguese Mass media, media holding company founded by Portuguese sports Business magnate, mogul and FC Porto Sociedade Anónima Desportiva, S.A.D.'s shareholder Joaquim Oliveira. History and profile Controlinveste was founded in 2005 after the amalgamation of Lusomundo Media and Olivedesportos. In 2013, Controlinveste was sold partly inter alia to Angolan investor António Mosquito Mbakassi (27.5%), representing a group of investors from Angola. The other parts were sold to Luís Montez (15%), Banco Comercial Português (15%) and Banco Espírito Santo (15%). Founder and owner Joaquim Oliveira keeps the remaining 27.5%. Global Media & Entertainment Limited, trading as Global, is a British media company formed in 2007. It is the owner of the largest commercial radio company in Europe having expanded through a number of historical acquisitions, including Chrysalis Radio, GCap Media and GMG Radio. Global owns and operates seven core radio brands, all employing a national network strategy. Global also owns and operates one of the leading out-of-home advertising (OOH) companies in the UK through its Outdoor Division. Global Media AIDS Initiative
The Global Media AIDS Initiative (GMAI) is an umbrella organization that unites and motivates media companies around the world to use their influence, resources, and creative talent to address AIDS. The GMAI creates a framework for sharing television and radio programming among media companies in order to increase public health messaging. The organization also educates journalists, editors and producers on how to cover the issue. HIV is preventable, and GMAI members aim to improve public awareness and knowledge to help stem the spread of HIV/AIDS. Within the GMAI, there are five national and regional coalitions of media companies. As of July 2009, the media initiatives in Africa, Asia, Russia, Latin America and the Caribbean included over 300 member broadcasters total. The Global Media Monitoring Project
The Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP) is the largest international study of gender in the news media. It is also an advocacy organization that aims to change the representation of women in the news media. Every five years since 1995 the GMMP collects data on indicators of gender in the news, such as: the presence of women, gender bias, and stereotyping. The most recent study, conducted in 2015, encompassed 114 countries. History The idea for a media monitoring project was created at the Women Empowering Communication international conference in Bangkok in 1994. The World Association for Christian Communication (WACC) along with MediaWatch (Canada) took up the project.
