Loretta Jean Thompson-Glickman (May 23, 1945 – March 18, 2001) was an American politician. She became the first African-American mayor of Pasadena, California in 1982, which also made her the first Black woman to be mayor of an American city of over 100,000 residents. Early life and education Thompson-Glickman grew up in Pasadena, and attended courses at Pasadena City College from 1963 to 1968, but did not complete any degree program. Career Thompson was a jazz singer and toured with the New Christy Minstrels and London Fog, before retiring from the entertainment industry in 1975 to start a family. She also taught high school English in Pasadena Public Schools from 1970 to 1972, but had to resign when her temporary teaching credential expired. Will Glickman (March 7, 1910 – March 11, 1983) was an American playwright who frequently collaborated with Joseph Stein. Glickman made his Broadway debut in 1948 with sketches he and Stein wrote for the revue ''Lend an Ear''. The two went on to collaborate on '' Mrs. Gibbons' Boys'' (1949), '' Alive and Kicking'' (1950), '' Mr. Wonderful'' (1956), ''The Body Beautiful'' (1958), and ''Plain and Fancy'' (1955), which proved to be their biggest success, garnering a Tony nomination for Best Musical. Glickman's television credits include adaptations of ''The Desert Song'' and ''The Chocolate Soldier''. Todd Glickman (born June 13, 1956) is a meteorologist whose weather reports can be heard on WCBS Newsradio 880 in New York City and internationally at radio.com. He has been a fill-in meteorologist there since May 1979. Early years Glickman grew up in Howard Beach, Queens and then Roslyn Heights, Long Island, NY. Sylvia Foodin Glickman (November 8, 1932 – January 16, 2006) was a pianist, composer, teacher, and prominent promoter of music by women composers. Glickman was born and grew up in New York City, where her mother enrolled her in music school at the age of 3. She graduated from the High School of Music and Art in 1950 (now the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts). She earned a bachelor's degree in 1954 from the Juilliard School of Music, where she also received a master's degree in 1955 in piano performance. She is a teacher of literature and creative writing, teaching at Toronto Metropolitan University and the University of Toronto. Martin Irving Glickman (August 14, 1917 – January 3, 2001) was an American radio announcer who was famous for his broadcasts of the New York Knicks basketball games and the football games of the New York Giants and the New York Jets.
