A rural municipality (RM) is a type of incorporated municipality in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. A rural municipality is created by the Minister of Municipal Relations by ministerial order via section 49 of ''The Municipalities Act''. Saskatchewan has 296 rural municipalities, which are located in the central and southern portions of the province. They had a cumulative population of and an average population of in the 2016 Census of Population. Saskatchewan's largest and smallest rural municipalities are the RM of Corman Park No. 344 and the RM of Glen McPherson No. 46 with populations of 8,568 and 72 respectively. Wood River (electoral District)
Wood River is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. Located in southern Saskatchewan, the district was created by the ''Representation Act, 1994'' (Saskatchewan) out of parts of the former Assiniboia-Gravelbourg and Shaunavon constituencies. The district takes its name from the R.M. of Wood River, which is located in the center of the constituency. Communities in the riding include the towns of Assiniboia, Ponteix, Rockglen, Gravelbourg, Mossbank and Lafleche; and the villages of Vanguard, Wood Mountain, Hodgeville, Mankota, Bracken and Val Marie. Shaunavon is a former provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. This district was created before the 8th Saskatchewan general election in 1934 as "Gull Lake". Redrawn and renamed "Shaunavon" in 1952, the constituency was abolished before the 23rd Saskatchewan general election in 1995. It is now part of the districts of Wood River and Cypress Hills. Theodore Robert "Ted" Gleim (born July 31, 1933) is a farmer, businessman and former political figure in Saskatchewan, Canada. He represented Shaunavon from 1986 to 1991 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Progressive Conservative. He was born in Chaplin, Saskatchewan, the son of George Gleim. Gleim served as mayor of Eastend. He was defeated by Glen McPherson when he ran for reelection to the Saskatchewan assembly in 1991. Delwood Frederick Huyghebaert, O.M.M., C.D. (Lt Colonel-Ret) (May 27, 1944 – August 2, 2018) was a Canadian politician, who served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan from 2000 to 2016, representing the riding of Wood River as a member of the Saskatchewan Party. Prior to his election to public office, he was a Fighter pilot in the Canadian Forces. His most notable duty was as commander of the Snowbirds Air Demonstration Team – 431 Squadron. In 1986, he was made an Officer of the Order of Military Merit. In 1997, he ran for the leadership of the fledgling Saskatchewan Party. He finished 3rd among three candidates. In 1995, he ran for the Progressive Conservative Party. Shaunavon, Saskatchewan
Shaunavon (, ) is a town in southwest Saskatchewan. At the junction of Highways 37 and 13, it is 110 kilometres from Swift Current, 163 kilometres from the Alberta border, and 74 kilometres from the Montana border. Shaunavon was established in 1913 along the Canadian Pacific Railway line. The town has several nicknames including Bone Creek Basin, Boomtown, and Oasis of the Prairies. The latter name is derived from the park located in the centre of town. The Shaunavon Formation, a stratigraphical unit of the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin is named for the town. The Saskatchewan New Democratic Party (NDP) is a social-democratic political party in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It currently forms the official opposition, but has been a dominant force in Saskatchewan politics since the 1940s. The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan is the legislative chamber of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, in the name of the King in Right of Saskatchewan. The assembly meets at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. There are 61 constituencies in the province, which elect members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to the Legislative Assembly. All are single-member districts, though the cities of Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw were in the past represented through multi-member districts, with members elected through Block Voting.
