Multiply Records was a subsidiary of Telstar Records, that launched in 1993 and went into liquidation in 2004. Its major signings included Sash!, Phats & Small and the Cheeky Girls. It was the brainchild of Mike Hall, who already worked for the parent company Telstar.Early successes included signing Bassment Jaxx's "Flylife", TJR feat Xavier's "Just Gets Better", one of the garage scene's foremost hits, as well as Lil Mo Yin Yang's "Reach", and Junior Vasquez's "If Madonna Calls". As a label they balanced credible releases with commercial hits, and enjoyed considerable success, as well as providing content for Telstar's huge compilation business. Telstar Records was a British record label that operated from 1982 to 2004. Background Telstar was founded in 1982 by Sean O'Brien and Neil Palmer with a government loan of £120,00Telstar RecordsIt was launched as a specialist compilation marketing label and had hits with a range of compilation franchises such as the Deep Heat, Kaos Theory and 100% ranges. As well as these brands, the company licensed a number of major artist recordings (for example ABBA and the Four Tops) to release telemarketed compilations. Sash! (; stylised as SASH!) is a German DJ/production team, fronted by Sascha Lappessen (born 10 June 1970) who works in the recording studio with Ralf Kappmeier, Karl Xander, and Thomas "Alisson" Lüdke. They have sold over 22 million albums worldwide and earned more than 65 Gold and Platinum awards. Phats & Small
Phats & Small are a British electronic dance music duo formed in Brighton, in 1998, and composed of Jason "Phats" Hayward and Russell Small. They are best known for their single " Turn Around", which became an international hit in 1999. Musical career Phats & Small appeared on the scene in 1998 with " Turn Around", a track that featured sampled Toney Lee's "Reach Up" and Change's " The Glow of Love". The song debuted at number three in the UK Singles Chart, before climbing to number two, with career sales of this hit amassing them £5,000 in total due to their recording contract. Singer Ben Ofoedu appears in the video for the track miming to the vocals. Future releases featured his voice but "Turn Around" featured Lee's voice. However, Ofoedu has been known to perform the track live. The Cheeky Girls are a Romanian singing duo consisting of identical twin sisters Gabriela and Monica Irimia (both born 31 October 1982). After appearing as auditionees on '' Popstars: The Rivals'', they achieved success in the UK charts with four top 10 hits between 2002 and 2004. They are best known for their debut single, "Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum)", which has sold more than 1.2 million units internationally. UK Garage
UK garage, abbreviated as UKG, is a genre of electronic dance music which originated in England in the early to mid-1990s. The genre was most clearly inspired by garage house, but also incorporates elements from dance-pop, R&B, and jungle. It is defined by percussive, shuffled rhythms with syncopated hi-hats, cymbals, and snares, and may include either 4/4 house kick patterns or more irregular " 2-step" rhythms. Garage tracks also commonly feature 'chopped up' and time-stretched or pitch-shifted vocal samples complementing the underlying rhythmic structure at a tempo usually around 130 BPM. "From: Disco to: Disco" is a song recorded by German experimental house music project Whirlpool Productions. It is produced by Eric D. Clark, Justus Köhncke and Hans Nieswandt, and was released in 1996 by ElektroMotor, Ladomat 2000 and Sum Records as the second single from the project's second album, ''Dense Music'' (1996). A huge hit in clubs, the song reached number-one in Italy for nine weeks in the summer of 1997. Additionally, "From: Disco to: Disco" also peaked at number 13 in Belgium and number 54 in the Netherlands. The accompanying music video was directed by Smoczek Policzek.
