Giulio Litta
Giulio Litta, Viscount Arese, (1822 – 29 May 1891) was an Italian composer. He was trained at the Milan Conservatory where his first opera, ''Bianca di Santafiora'', premiered in 1843. He composed several more operas, most of which premiered at theatres in Milan. His last opera, ''Il violino di Cremona'', was heard at La Scala La Scala (, , ; abbreviation in Italian of the official name ) is a famous opera house in Milan, Italy. A composer is a person who writes music. The term is especially used to indicate composers of Western classical music, or those who are composers by occupation. Many composers are, or were, also skilled performers of music. Etymology and Definition The term is descended from Latin, ''compōnō''; literally "one who puts together". The earliest use of the term in a musical context given by the ''Oxford English Dictionary'' is from Thomas Morley's 1597 ''A Plain and Easy Introduction to Practical Music'', where he says "Some wil be good descanters ..and yet wil be but bad composers". The Milan Conservatory (''Conservatorio di Milano'') is a college of music in Milan, Italy. History The conservatory was established by a royal decree of 1807 in Milan, capital of the Napoleonic Kingdom of Italy. It opened the following year with premises in the cloisters of the Baroque church of Santa Maria della Passione. There were initially eighteen boarders, including students of both sexes. Opera
Opera is a form of theatre in which music is a fundamental component and dramatic roles are taken by singers.
