''Girl from Hanoi'' ( vi, Em bé Hà Nội) is a 1974 Vietnamese drama film directed by Hải Ninh. It was entered into the 9th Moscow International Film Festival where it won a Diploma. It also won the Golden Lotus at the 3rd Vietnam Film Festival. Plot The plot of the film revolves around a young girl searching for her father, a soldier in the PAVN, after her mother and sister are killed during Christmas Bombings. The film makes significant use of visual imagery and depicts war-time life in Hanoi under the aegis of the most intense sustained bombing campaign during the war. Golden Lotus Awards (Vietnam Film Festival)
The Golden Lotus (Vietnamese: Bông sen vàng) is the highest prize awarded to competing films at the Vietnam Film Festival. The award is separated in different categories: feature film; direct-to-video; documentary film; science film and animated film. The Golden Lotus is awarded for one or several films which are chosen by the jury of each category as the best production of the festival. It is also possible that the prize is not awarded if the jury decides that no film at the festival deserves the Golden Lotus. History The first Vietnamese film festival was organized in order to encourage the work of composing and honor the outstanding works of Vietnamese artists in cinema field. Operation Linebacker II was an aerial bombing campaign conducted by U.S. Seventh Air Force, Strategic Air Command and U.S. Navy Task Force 77 against targets in the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam) during the final period of U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War.
