Giovanni De Lorenzo Larciani
Giovanni di Lorenzo Larciani (1484 - 1527) was an Italian painter. He was originally referred to as the Maestro dei paesaggi Kress (Master of the Kress landscapes). Work & attribution His original name referred to a body of works at the National Gallery of Art that form part of the Kress Collection. He is also now known to be the creator of a ''Holy Family and Four Saints'' at the . While studying that work, Louis Alexander Waldman discovered documents, including a contract from 1521, that linked it with someone named Giovanni Larciani, whose biography and oeuvre the same scholar has reconstructed in a series of publications. Works that had already been assigned to a young Rosso Fiorentino (such as the ''Madonna and Child'' at the Galleria Borghese, 1510–1515, and a similar work at the in Arezzo, c.1510-1520), were now reassigned to Larciani. Samuel Henry Kress (July 23, 1863 – September 22, 1955) was a businessman, philanthropist, and founder of the S. H. Kress & Co. five and ten cent store chain. With his fortune, Kress amassed one of the most significant collections of Italian Renaissance and European artwork assembled in the 20th century. In the 1950s and 1960s, a foundation established by Kress would donate 776 works of art from the Kress collection to 18 regional art museums in the United States. Louis Alexander Waldman (; born October 29, 1965) is an American art historian and author specializing in the Italian Renaissance. Early life Waldman was born near Detroit, Michigan on October 29, 1965. Education Waldman attended Hunter College (B.A. 1989) and subsequently studied with Sir John Pope-Hennessy and Kathleen Weil-Garris Brandt at the Institute of Fine Arts (Ph.D. 1999). Career Since 1999, Waldman taught at the University of Texas at Austin, where they received the College of Fine Arts Teaching Excellence Award (2008), the Dads' Association Centennial Teaching Fellowship (2004), the Department of Art and Art History Teaching Excellence Award (2005), and the Texas Blazers Faculty Excellence Award (2008). Giovanni Battista di Jacopo (8 March 1495 in Gregorian style, or 1494 according to the calculation of times in Florence where the year began on 25 March – 14 November 1540), known as Rosso Fiorentino (meaning "Red Florentine" in Italian), or Il Rosso, was an Italian Mannerist painter who worked in oil and fresco and belonged to the Florentine school. The Galleria Borghese () is an art gallery in Rome, Italy, housed in the former Villa Borghese Pinciana. At the outset, the gallery building was integrated with its gardens, but nowadays the Villa Borghese gardens are considered a separate tourist attraction. Francesco Granacci
Francesco Granacci (1469 – 30 November 1543) was an Italian Renaissance painter active primarily in his native Florence. Though little-known today, he was regarded in his time and is featured in Giorgio Vasari's ''Lives of the Artists''. Granacci was born in 1469 in Villamagna, and was trained in Florence in the workshop of Domenico Ghirlandaio, where he became lifelong friends with Michelangelo.
