Giovanni De Gennaro (police Officer)
Giovanni De Gennaro (born August 14, 1948 in Reggio Calabria, Italy) is Chairman of the first Italian Defense Group Leonardo (formerly Finmeccanica). He was Italy's former police chief and Undersecretary to the Italian Prime Minister with responsibility for information services and security. He was appointed former chief of the Italian police department and director of the information services and security department. Career De Gennaro graduated in Law at Sapienza University of Rome, and then joined the Italian Police Department. Afterwards he was moved to Rome to join the narcotics unit. During his career he collaborated with Giovanni Falcone, carrying out international investigations against the Mafia. In 1984 he was the lead officer during the extradition issues of the informer Tommaso Buscetta from Brazil. Giuseppe Orsi
Giuseppe Orsi (born 24 November 1945 in Piacenza) is an Italian engineer, businessman, and corporate executive. He had a long career at Finmeccanica, Italy's leading high-technology group, and in November 2011 was appointed its Chief Executive Officer and Chairman. Orsi was arrested by Italian police in February 2013 on bribery allegations in the Indian Chopper deal scandal, and was released after three months. However, on 9 October 2014, at the end of the proceedings of the first instance, he was fully acquitted ("the fact did not occur") of international corruption and bribery allegations in the helicopter case, and was sentenced to two years in prison (sentence has been suspended) for false invoicing. Orsi's lawyer, Giuseppe Amodio, has appealed against this punishment and affirmed that “with regard to the two-year sentence for false invoicing, a part of those invoices is linked to non-existent transactions. FBI Honorary Medals
The United States' Federal Bureau of Investigation instituted an Honorary Medals Program in 1989 as a way of recognizing "exceptional acts" by FBI employees and other law enforcement personnel working with the FBI. These medals were created to supplement the then-existing reward system within the Bureau. There are four medals in the program intended for personnel: the FBI Star, the FBI Medal for Meritorious Achievement, the FBI Shield of Bravery, and the FBI Medal of Valor. One additional medal, the FBI Memorial Star, is for a surviving relative when a death has occurred in the line of duty. These medals are considered to be among the highest honors granted by the FBI, and fewer than 400 had been awarded as of March 2009. The Order of Merit of the Italian Republic ( it, Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana) is the senior Italian order of merit. It was established in 1951 by the second President of the Italian Republic, Luigi Einaudi. The highest-ranking honour of the Republic, it is awarded for "merit acquired by the nation" in the fields of literature, the arts, economy, public service, and social, philanthropic and humanitarian activities and for long and conspicuous service in civilian and military careers.
