Giovanni dei Conti di Poli (died 1 August 1332), sometimes shortened to Giovanni Conti or anglicized John of Conti, was an Italian nobleman and Dominican friar who served successively as the archbishop of Pisa (1299–1312) and 717, Pisan">708, Pisan); on 30–31 July 1716 [1717, Pisan and on 31 J ... Family and early life Born in the latter half of the 13th century, Giovanni was the third son of Pietro di Giovanni di Poli and Giacoma, daughter of Ottone Colonna. His parents belonged to two powerful families, his father to the Conti and his mother to the Colonna family">Colonna. He was a cousin of Cardinal Pietro Colonna. His eldest brother, Stefano, was the lord of Lunghezza and the Summus Senator, senator of Rome under Popes Clement V and John XXII. He entered the Dominican Order and passed his novitiate in Viterbo. Giovanni Conti (cardinal)
Giovanni Conti (1414–1493) (called Cardinal Conti) was an Italian Roman Catholic bishop and cardinal. Biography Giovanni Conti was born in Rome in 1414, a member of the Conti family from Valmontone. He served as an Apostolic Subdeacon. On 26 January 1455 he was elected Archbishop of Conza; he held this position until 1 October 1484, when he resigned in favor of his nephew Niccolò. On 15 November 1483, in a consistory celebrated in St. Peter's Basilica, Pope Sixtus IV made Conti a cardinal priest. He received the titular church of Santi Nereo e Achilleo on the same day, and received the red hat four days later. He participated in the papal conclave of 1484, where he was the preferred candidate of the Orsini family, though he ultimately lost the election to Giovanni Battista Cibo, who took the name Pope Innocent VIII. Giovanni Conti (17 November 1882 – 1 March 1957) was a deputy of the Kingdom of Italy and a senator in the Italian Republic. He was born in Montegranaro, Marche. He became a member of the Italian Republican Party in 1912 and was elected into the Italian Parliament in 1921.
