Gia'na Garel is a writer, producer, filmmaker, composer and entertainment consultant based in New York City. Air America Radio
Air America (formerly Air America Radio and Air America Media) was an American radio network specializing in progressive talk radio. It was on the air from March 2004 to January 2010. The network was founded as a left–wing alternative to counter talk radio with a right–wing perspective. Air America featured programs with monologues by on-air personalities, guest interviews, call-ins from listeners, and news reports. Several shows had audiences of over a million listeners, and multiple weekday presenters continued on in radio, television, or politics after their time on Air America. For example, in 2008, ''The Thom Hartmann Program'' had 1.5–2 million unique listeners a week and ''The Lionel Show'' had 1.5–1.75 million unique listeners a week. Toni Cade Bambara
Toni Cade Bambara, born Miltona Mirkin Cade (March 25, 1939 – December 9, 1995), was an African-American author, documentary film-maker, social activist and college professor. Early life and education Miltona Mirkin Cade was born in Harlem, New York, to parents Walter Cade and Helen Brent Henderson Cade. She lived with her mother and brother, Walter, growing up in the New York metropolitan area. They lived in Harlem, Bedford Stuyvesant (Brooklyn), Queens, and Jersey City. At the age of six, she changed her name from Miltona to Toni. Bambara's mother had lived in Harlem during the Harlem Renaissance, and she encouraged her children to daydream, read, and write. Holocaust survivors are people who survived the Holocaust, defined as the persecution and attempted annihilation of the Jews by Nazi Germany and its collaborators before and during World War II in Europe and North Africa. There is no universally accepted definition of the term, and it has been applied variously to Jews who survived the war in German-occupied Europe or other Axis territories, as well as to those who fled to Allied and neutral countries before or during the war. Chloe Anthony Wofford Morrison (born Chloe Ardelia Wofford; February 18, 1931 – August 5, 2019), known as Toni Morrison, was an American novelist and editor. Manthia Diawara (born December 19, 1953) is a Malian writer, filmmaker, cultural theorist, scholar, and art historian. He holds the title of University Professor at New York University (NYU), where he is Director of the Institute of Afro-American Affairs. Biography Diawara was born in Bamako, Mali, and received his early education in France. He later received a PhD from Indiana University in 1985. Prior to teaching at NYU, Diawara taught at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of California at Santa Barbara. Much of his research has been in the field of black cultural studies.
