Ghost to the Post is a significant play in National Football League, NFL history. 1977 Oakland Raiders Season
The 1977 Oakland Raiders season was the team's 18th season overall, and 8th season since joining the NFL. The Raiders entered the season as the defending Super Bowl champions. The team couldn't improve on their 13-1 record from last year and finished 11-3, but it was good enough for the second best in the AFC West. The Raiders reached the AFC Championship Game for the fifth consecutive season, and their sixth in eight years. They lost the AFC Championship, however, to the division rival Denver Broncos. This marked the seventh time in ten seasons that the Raiders' season ended in the AFL Championship/AFC Conference Championship game. Art Shell
Arthur Lee Shell Jr. (born November 26, 1946) is an American former professional football player in the American Football League (AFL) and later in the National Football League (NFL), a Hall of Fame offensive tackle and a two-time former head coach of the Oakland Raiders. He holds the distinction of becoming the second African-American head coach in the history of professional football, and the first in the sport's modern era. Thomas Raymond Flores (born March 21, 1937) is a former American football coach and quarterback. After his retirement as a coach, he was a radio announcer for more than twenty years. Flores won a total of four Super Bowls in his playing and coaching careers. He and Mike Ditka are the only two people in National Football League history to win a Super Bowl as a player, assistant coach, and head coach (Flores won Super Bowl IV as a player for the Kansas City Chiefs, Super Bowl XI as an assistant coach of the Raiders, and Super Bowl XV and Super Bowl XVIII as head coach of the Raiders). Pete Banaszak
Peter Andrew Banaszak (born May 21, 1944) is a former player of college and professional American football. A running back, he played college football at the University of Miami, and played professionally in the American Football League for the Oakland Raiders from 1966 through 1969, and for the National Football League Raiders from 1970 through 1978. Career Banaszak is from Crivitz, Wisconsin. Before his football career, while still a high school student, he considered becoming a priest. He finished his three-year career with the Miami Hurricanes with 263 carries for 1,107 yards and nine touchdowns and 35 catches for 356 yards and three touchdowns. Toni Linhart
Anton Hans Jörg Linhart (24 July 1942 – 12 May 2013) was an Austrian football player who later started a successful career in American football in the U.S. Career Linhart was born in Donawitz, now part of Leoben, Austria. He played association football for Wiener Sportclub in the Austrian Bundesliga and also for the Austria national football team. In 1972 he moved to the US and joined the New Orleans Saints in the National Football League as a placekicker. He spent most of his NFL career with the Baltimore Colts. Bruce Laird (American Football)
Bruce Allan Laird (born May 23, 1950) is an American former professional football player who was a strong safety and return specialist in the National Football League (NFL) and United States Football League (USFL). He played college football at American International College. Laird played in the NFL with the Baltimore Colts from 1972–1981, then for the San Diego Chargers for two seasons, before moving to the USFL after the 1983 season. Over his 12 year NFL career he started in 127 games, and played in a total of 164 games. The first half of his career, Laird was a special teams punt and kick returner. Although he never returned one for a touchdown, he accumulated 3,748 yards in 213 attempts, with a career long of 73 yards. Clarence Eugene Davis (born June 28, 1949) is a former American football running back who played eight seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the Oakland Raiders from 1971 to 1978, having earlier played college football for the USC Trojans. Early life Davis was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on June 28, 1949. Casper the Friendly Ghost is the protagonist of the Famous Studios theatrical animated cartoon series of the same name. He is a pleasant, personable and translucent ghost, but often criticized by his three wicked uncles, the Ghostly Trio.
