Gherardo Appiani
Gherardo Appiani (c. 1370 – May 1405) was the lord of Piombino from 1398 until his death.Mauro Carrara, Signori e principi di Piombino, Bandecchi & Vivaldi, Pontedera 1996. He was a member of the Appiani family. He was born in Pisa, the son of Iacopo I Appiani. He was lord of that city from 1398 until 1399, obtaining the lordship of Piombino in 1398 in exchange of Pisa, sold to Gian Galeazzo Visconti for 200,000 florins. In 1396 he married Paola Colonna, daughter of Agapito Colonna, and sister of future Pope Martin V. Gherardo Gossi
Gherardo Gossi (born in 1958) is an Italian cinematographer. Born in Turin, Gossi followed the courses of film history and criticism held by Gianni Rondolino at the University of Turin, even without concluding his studies. He began his professional career as an operator in a local television network, Teleuropa 3, and then founded with Lucia Moisio and Walter Buccino the production company "MDP Cinema e Video", specialized in documentaries and short films. In the troupe of cinematographer Claudio Meloni, he worked in advertising, in some television series and in the film ''Zen'' (1987) directed by Gian Vittorio Baldi. He debuted as cinematographer in 1991, in Guido Chiesa's ''Il caso Martello''. ''Fra Gherardo'' is an opera in three acts composed by Ildebrando Pizzetti who also wrote the libretto. Set in Parma at the end of the 13th century, the opera's story is based on the life and death of Gherardino Segalello as chronicled by Salimbene of Parma. Pizzetti composed the work, his fifth opera, between 1925 and 1927. Gherardo Starnina
Gherardo Starnina (c. 1360–1413) was an Italian painter from Florence in the Quattrocento era. According to the biographer Giorgio Vasari, Starnina initially trained with Antonio Veneziano, then with Agnolo Gaddi. He is claimed to have participated in the painting of the frescos in the ''Castellani Chapel'' in Basilica di Santa Croce, Florence. He is also said to have moved to Spain in 1380 to work under Juan I of Castile, and is attributed some painting in the ''San Blas chapel'' of the Cathedral of Toledo. Several paintings formerly attributed to the Master of the Bambino Vispo are now attributed to Gherardo Starnina, and the two artists may have been the same person. Fra' Gherardo Hercolani Fava Simonetti (born 1941) was the Grand Commander of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta between 2009 and 2011, and as such he was the religious superior of the professed knights and of the knights and dames in obedience. Biography Hercolani was born in Bologna, the son of Don Filippo Rinaldo Hercolani Fava Simonetti and of his wife, Donna Francesca Cangini. He is the grandson of Count Antonio Hercolani Fava Simonetti, who was Lieutenant Grand Master of the Order of Malta from 1951 to 1955. Gherardo Segarelli
Gerard'' or ''Gherardo'' or ''Gherardino'' ''Segarelli'' or ''Segalelli (around 1240 – July 18, 1300) was the founder of the Apostolic Brethren (in Latin ''Apostolici''). He was burned at the stake in 1300. Sources In the 1280s, Salimbene di Adam wrote an account of Segarelli and the Brethren. While contemporary and detailed, scholars note the Franciscan's bias against the upstart group attempting to imitate the Franciscan idea of poverty. Maffeo Gherardi (1406–1492) (called the Cardinal of Venice) was an Italian Roman Catholic bishop and cardinal. Maffeo Gherardi was born in Venice in 1406, the son of nobles Giovanni Gherardi and Cristina Barbarigo. He entered the Camaldolese Order when young, receiving the habit from Paolo Venerio, Abbot of the Monastery of St. Michael on Murano. Gherardi later became abbot of this monastery, and later Abbot General of the Camaldolese Order. In April 1466, the Venetian Senate unanimously elected him to be the Patriarch of Venice. Ambassadors of the Republic of Venice presented his selection to Pope Paul II on 31 October 1467 and the pope confirmed his appointment on 16 December 1468.
