Ghana Women's Super Cup
The Ghana Women's Super Cup is an annual game, featuring the teams that won the Ghana Women's Premier League and the Ghana Women's FA Cup in the previous season. The first edition was contested on 23 April 2017 between Ampem Darkoa Ladies and Police Ladies at Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi. The game also signals the curtain opener for the new football season. Ampem Darkoa Ladies
Ampem Darkoa Ladies F.C. is a Ghanaian professional women's football club based in Techiman in the Bono East Region of Ghana. The club features in the Ghana Women’s Premier League GWPL). The club was formed in 2009. It was one of the foundational clubs for the maiden GWPL season in 2012–13. It is currently the 2nd most successful women's club in Ghana after winning the Women's League on 2 different occasions against Hasaacas Ladies who have won it 4 times. Ghana Women's Premier League
The Ghana Women’s Premier League (GWPL), currently known as the Guinness Ghana Breweries, Malta Guinness Women's Premier League for sponsorship reasons, was launched in 2012 as the National Women's League (NWL) and is the top division league for women's football in Ghana. Contested by 18 clubs in two zones (southern and northern zone), it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Ghana Women's Division One. Seasons run from December to July with each team playing 16 matches (playing all 8 other teams in their zone both home and away). Most games are played on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. The Ghana Women's FA Cup, is the top women's knockout tournament of the Ghanaian association football. The competition is played between the clubs of the Ghana Women's Premier League and Division One League. The inaugural winners of the competition were Police Ladies. History The Ghana Women's FA Cup was launched in 2016 by the Women's League Board (WLB) of Ghana Football Association (GFA) as the highest women's knockout tournament. Baba Yara Sports Stadium (also Kumasi Sports Stadium) is a multi-purpose stadium in Kumasi, Ashanti. It is Ghana's largest stadium, with a seating capacity of 40,528. The Kumasi Stadium is used mostly for football matches, although it is also used for athletics. It is the home of one of Africa's most popular sports clubs, Asante Kotoko as well as King Faisal.
