Get Ready (Temptations Song)
"Get Ready" is a Motown Records, Motown song written by Smokey Robinson, which resulted in two hit records for the label: a U.S. No. 29 version by The Temptations in 1966, and a U.S. No. 4 version by Rare Earth (band), Rare Earth in 1970. It is significant for being the last song Robinson wrote and produced for the Temptations, due to a deal Berry Gordy made with Norman Whitfield, that if "Get Ready" did not meet with the expected degree of success, then Whitfield's song, "Ain't Too Proud to Beg", would get the next release, which resulted in Whitfield more or less replacing Robinson as the group's producer. The Temptations version The original Temptations version of "Get Ready", produced by Smokey Robinson, was designed as an answer to the latest dance craze, "The Duck". The Temptations' falsetto Eddie Kendricks sings lead on the song, which Robinson produced as an up-tempo dance number with a prominent rhythm provided by Motown drummer Benny Benjamin. Michael Wagener, once again, handled recording and mixing duties here. The guitar on the finished product is done by Wolf Hoffmann alone, although Herman Frank had joined the band by the time the album was released, and is credited on the album cover. Bon Jovi (album)
''Bon Jovi'' is the debut studio album by American rock band Bon Jovi, released on January 23, 1984, by Mercury Records. Produced by Tony Bongiovi and Lance Quinn, it is significant for being the only Bon Jovi album in which a song (" She Don't Know Me") appears that was not written or co-written by a member of the band. The album charted at number 43 on the US ''Billboard'' 200. Aside from the hit single " Runaway", songs from the album were rarely performed live after Bon Jovi released ''Slippery When Wet'' in 1986. However, on the band's 2010 Circle Tour, songs including "Roulette", "Shot Through the Heart" and "Get Ready" were performed. The album was ranked the 11th best rock album of 1984 by ''Kerrang!'' magazine. The song "Shot Through the Heart" should not be confused with the much better-known "You Give Love a Bad Name" from ''Slippery When Wet''.
