Gerry O'Sullivan
Gerry O'Sullivan (10 April 1936 – 5 August 1994) was an Irish Labour Party (Ireland), Labour Party politician from Cork (city), Cork. He was a long-serving member of Cork City Council, and was Lord Mayor of Cork from 1986 to 1987. O'Sullivan was elected to Dáil Éireann at the 1989 Irish general election, 1989 general election as a Labour Party Teachta Dála (TD) for Cork North-Central (Dáil constituency), Cork North-Central having topped the poll. He was re-elected at the 1992 Irish general election, 1992 general election, receiving 10,008 first preference votes, again topping the poll. In January 1993, after the formation of a Fianna Fáil–Labour 23rd Government of Ireland, coalition government, he was appointed as Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications, Minister of State at the Department of the Marine (with special responsibility for Port Development Safety at sea and Inland Fisheries). Kathleen Lynch (politician)
Kathleen Lynch (born 7 June 1953) is a former Irish Labour Party politician who served as Minister of State from 2011 to 2016. She served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Cork North-Central constituency from 1994 to 1997 and 2002 to 2016. Early life Kathleen Lynch was born in Cork in 1953. Political career 1985 to 2009 She first became involved in politics in 1985 when she was elected to Cork Corporation for the Workers' Party. She came to prominence as a campaigner against service charges being introduced by the corporation. When that party split in 1992, Lynch and other members of the Cork organisation were initially undecided as to their stance, but she subsequently decided to follow former party president Proinsias De Rossa and the bulk of the party's TDs into the new organisation which later took the name Democratic Left.
