Election Commission Of Malaysia
The Election Commission of Malaysia ( ms, Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya Malaysia), abbreviated SPR or EC, is a commission set up for ensuring fair and equitable operations in undertaking the elections in Malaysia. Its establishment is mandated by executive order of the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. The agency falls under the purview of the Prime Minister's Department. History The Election Commission (EC) was formed on 4 September 1957, under Article 114 of the Constitution of Malaysia, which empowers it to conduct elections for the Dewan Rakyat and state legislative bodies. At its establishment, the EC only consisted of a chairman and two members – Datuk Dr Mustafa Albakri Hassan together with Lee Ewe Boon and Ditt Singh. Hasbullah Osman
Hasbullah bin Osman (17 February 1957 – 16 November 2020) was a Malaysian politician who served as Chairman of the Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) from May 2020, Member of Parliament (MP) for Gerik from May 2013 to his death in November 2020 and Member of the Perak State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Temenggor from March 2004 to May 2013. The opposition coalition Pakatan Rakyat that contested the general elections in 2013 was dissolved after series of disagreements between two main parties, Democratic Action Party (DAP) and Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS). The Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia ( en, Malaysian People's Movement Party, commonly abbreviated as GERAKAN or less commonly as PGRM) is a liberal political party in Malaysia. Formed in 1968, Gerakan gained prominence in the 1969 general election when it defeated the ruling Alliance Party in Penang and won the majority of seats in Penang's state legislature. Tan Lian Hoe
Dato' Tan Lian Hoe (; born 14 November 1958) is a Malaysian politician. She was a Member of Parliament of Malaysia from 2004 to 2013. She was a member of the Malaysian People's Movement Party (Gerakan), a former component party in the then-ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. Political career Tan was elected to the Gerik seat in the 2008 election, having served from 2004 as the Member of Parliament for Bukit Gantang earlier. The 12th Malaysian Parliament is the last meeting of the legislative branch of the government of Malaysia, the Parliament, comprising the directly elected lower house, the ''Dewan Rakyat'', and the appointed upper house, the ''Dewan Negara''.
