Gerd Uecker
Gerd Uecker (born 15 September 1946) is a German music pedagogue, music and opera director. From 2003 to 2010 he was artistic director of the Semperoper in Dresden. Life Born in Munich, Uecker studied piano, music education and conducting at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München after his Abitur. At the beginning of his career, Uecker worked as a solo repetiteur at the Cologne Opera from 1969, where he met the director Jean-Pierre Ponnelle. In 1970 he received a teaching assignment for opera at the Rheinisches Musikkonservatorium in Cologne. In 1973 Uecker was appointed music director and head of the opera department of the Southeast Bavarian Städtetheater in Passau. In 1979 Uecker came to the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, where he held the position of musical director. Three years later he took over the direction of the director's office. Hans Joachim Meyer
Hans Joachim Meyer (born 13 October 1936) is a German politician ( CDU). He served in the de Maizière cabinet as the last East German Minister for Education and the Arts. After reunification he became in the regional government of Saxony. In addition, he served between 1997 and 2009 as President of the Central Committee of German Catholics (''"Zentralkomitee der deutschen Katholiken"'' / ZdK). Bundeswettbewerb Gesang Berlin
The German national competition Bundeswettbewerb Gesang Berlin was inaugurated in 1966 as a competition for solo singing. Beginning in 1979, it has been held annually, for the categories Musical and Chanson in uneven years, for Opera, Operetta and concert singing in even years. The patron of the competition is the mayor of Berlin, where the competition is organized and held by the association ''Bundeswettbewerb Gesang Berlin''. The competition supports young singers for stages in German-speaking countries who have to display varied repertory. They have to be of German nationality and finished school in Germany. The final rounds are held in public in Berlin, where also concerts of the winners are presented in the city's music theatres. Montepulciano () is a medieval and Renaissance hill town and ''comune'' in the Italian province of Siena in southern Tuscany. The Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding (English: Bavarian Theatre Academy August Everding) at the Prinzregententheater in Munich, was founded by August Everding in 1993. Sir John Peter Jonas (14 October 1946 – 22 April 2020) was a British arts administrator and opera company director. Life and career Jonas was born in London, the son of Hilda (Ziadie), a fashion model, and Walter Jonas, who ran a dye works and a factory. His father was a German Jewish emigrant, from Hamburg, and his mother was of Jamaican and Lebanese descent. Jonas studied at Worth School, and took an English Literature degree at the University of Sussex.
